日头快要平西，十二个门徒来对他说：“请叫众人散开，他们好往四面乡村里去借宿找吃的，因为我们这里是野地。”

太阳快要下山，十二使徒进前来对他说：“请叫众人散去，他们好往四面村庄乡镇里去借宿和找吃的，因为我们这里地方偏僻。”

Late in the afternoon the Twelve came to him and said,“ Send the crowd away so they can go to the surrounding villages and countryside and find food and lodging, because we are in a remote place here.”

Late in the afternoon the 12 disciples came to him. They said,“ Send the crowd away. They can go to the nearby villages and countryside. There they can find food and a place to stay. There is nothing here.”

Now the day began to wear away, and the twelve came and said to him,“ Send the crowd away to go into the surrounding villages and countryside to find lodging and get provisions, for we are here in a desolate place.”

Late in the afternoon the twelve disciples came to him and said,“ Send the crowds away to the nearby villages and farms, so they can find food and lodging for the night. There is nothing to eat here in this remote place.”

Late in the day, the Twelve approached and said to him,“ Send the crowd away, so that they can go into the surrounding villages and countryside to find food and lodging, because we are in a deserted place here.”

Now the day was ending, and the twelve came up and said to Him,“ Dismiss the crowd, so that they may go into the surrounding villages and countryside and find lodging and get something to eat; because here, we are in a secluded place.”

When the day began to wear away, the twelve came and said to Him,“ Send the multitude away, that they may go into the surrounding towns and country, and lodge and get provisions; for we are in a deserted place here.”

And the day began to wear away; and the twelve came, and said unto him, Send the multitude away, that they may go into the villages and country round about, and lodge, and get provisions: for we are here in a desert place.

And when the day began to wear away, then came the twelve, and said unto him, Send the multitude away, that they may go into the towns and country round about, and lodge, and get victuals: for we are here in a desert place.

Now the day began to draw to a close, so the twelve came and said to Jesus,“ Send the crowd away, so they can go into the surrounding villages and countryside and find lodging and food, because we are in an isolated place.”

The day began to wear away; and the twelve came and said to him,“ Send the multitude away, that they may go into the surrounding villages and farms, and lodge, and get food, for we are here in a deserted place.”

耶穌卻一言不發。門徒上前求祂說：「請讓她走吧！她老是在後面喊叫。」

他們抱怨上帝，說：「難道上帝可以在曠野擺宴席嗎？祂擊打磐石，水就湧出，流淌成河，但祂能賜給我們——祂的子民食物和肉嗎？」

天色晚了，門徒過來對耶穌說：「時候已經不早了，這裡又是荒郊野外，請遣散眾人，好讓他們到周圍的村莊去自己買些吃的。」耶穌說：「你們給他們吃的吧。」門徒說：「我們哪來這麼多錢買東西給他們吃啊？」耶穌說：「看看你們有多少餅。」他們察看後，說：「有五個餅和兩條魚。」耶穌吩咐門徒叫大家分組坐在草地上。於是眾人坐下，有的五十人一組，有的一百人一組。耶穌拿起那五個餅、兩條魚，舉目望著天祝謝後，掰開遞給門徒，讓他們分給眾人。祂又照樣把那兩條魚分給眾人。大家都吃了，並且吃飽了。門徒把剩下的碎餅、碎魚收拾起來，裝滿了十二個籃子。當時吃餅的男人有五千。

黃昏時，門徒過來對耶穌說：「這裡是荒郊野外，天又晚了，請遣散眾人，好讓他們到村莊去自己買些吃的。」耶穌回答說：「他們不用離開，你們給他們吃的吧。」門徒答道：「我們這裡只有五個餅和兩條魚。」耶穌說：「拿來給我。」於是，祂叫眾人坐在草地上，然後拿起那五個餅和兩條魚，舉目望著天祝謝後，就掰開餅遞給門徒，讓他們分給眾人。大家都吃飽了，把剩下的零碎收拾起來，竟裝滿了十二個籃子。當時吃飯的，除了婦女和小孩，約有五千男人。

耶穌把門徒召集過來，對他們說：「我憐憫這些人，他們跟我在一起已經三天，沒有任何吃的。我不願讓他們餓著肚子回去，以免他們在路上體力不支。」

耶穌舉目看見一大群人向祂走來，就對腓力說：「我們到哪裡去買餅給他們吃呢？」祂這樣說是想試試腓力，其實祂知道應該怎麼做。腓力回答說：「就算買二百個銀幣的餅，也不夠他們每人一口啊！」另外一個門徒——西門·彼得的弟弟安得烈對耶穌說：「這裡有個小孩子帶了五個大麥餅和兩條魚。不過，這麼多人，這一點東西實在無濟於事。」耶穌說：「你們叫大家坐下。」那地方草很多，眾人便坐下來，當時在場的男人大約有五千。耶穌拿起餅來祝謝後，分給坐著的眾人，然後又照樣分魚，眾人可以隨意吃。他們吃飽後，耶穌對門徒說：「把剩下的零碎收拾起來，免得浪費。」他們便把大家吃剩的那五個大麥餅的零碎收拾起來，裝滿了十二個籃子。大家看見耶穌行的這個神蹟，都說：「這人真是那位要來到世上的先知！」耶穌知道他們想強行立祂作王，便獨自退到山上。

事後，耶穌渡過加利利湖，就是提比哩亞海。
