至于那些想发财的人就会陷入试探、网罗以及很多无知有害的欲望里；这些欲望使人沉溺在败坏和灭亡中。要知道，贪爱金钱是万恶之根；有些人恋慕金钱，就被迷惑而离开了信仰，用很多苦痛把自己刺透了。

但今世的各种忧虑、财富的迷惑，以及其他各种欲望纷纷进来把这话语挤住了，他就成了不结果实的。

有的落进荆棘丛里，荆棘与它一起生长，把它挤住了。

“一个人不能服事两个主人。他不是厌恶这个、喜爱那个，就是忠于这个、轻视那个。你们不能既服事神，又服事财富。“所以我告诉你们：不要为你们的生命而忧虑吃什么、喝什么；也不要为你们的身体而忧虑穿什么；难道生命不比食物更重要，身体不比衣服更重要吗？

那被撒进种子的‘荆棘丛’是这样的人：他听了这话语，但今世的忧虑和财富的迷惑把话语挤住了，他就成了不结果实的。

因为迪马斯爱上了现今的世代，就离弃我到帖撒罗尼迦去了；克勒斯克到加拉太去，提多到达尔马提亚去了，

耶稣看见他变得很忧愁，就说：“有钱财的人进入神的国，是多么困难！骆驼穿过针眼，比富有的人进入神的国更容易呢！”

一个人如果不住在我里面，就像枝条被丢在外面枯干了，然后被收集扔进火里焚烧。
