耶穌入葛法農有巴總來求曰：『主、吾僕癱痿。偃臥家中、苦甚。』耶穌曰：『吾來救之。』巴總曰：『主臨敝廬、何敢當也。第發一言、吾僕當愈。蓋予屬人權下、己亦帶有兵卒；命此去則去、召彼來則來、所諭於僕、罔有不從。』耶穌聞而異之、謂從者曰：『吾實語爾、如此篤信、在義塞人中、未之見也。吾又語爾、將來必有眾人、集自東西、與亞伯漢依灑格雅谷伯坐於天國、而本國之子民、轉見投於無明之絕域；將有痛哭切齒者焉。』乃顧謂巴總曰：『汝且返；依汝之信、玉汝於成。』斯時、其僕果愈。

耶穌訓眾既畢、乃赴葛法農。有百夫長寵僕病危、百夫長聞耶穌令名、挽猶太長老謁耶穌、請為救治。長老既至、懇切求之曰：『百夫長素愛吾民、曾為吾人建立會堂；以此惠施此人宜也。』耶穌遂與偕往、及距宅不遠、百夫長遣諸友趨前代陳曰：『主毋勞駕！主入敝廬、非所敢當！因此予亦不敢冒昧進謁。願賜一言、吾僕必愈。蓋予亦屬人權下、士卒又處予權下、諭此曰去即去、呼彼曰來即來、凡有所命、僕必從焉。』耶穌聞而奇之、顧謂從者曰：『予實語爾、具此大信、即猶太中亦未之前睹。』諸友返宅、見僕已愈。

耶穌講道既畢、眾皆驚服；蓋其所訓、若自具權能者、非尋常經師所得同日而語也。
