那日，也就是一周的头一天，傍晚的时候，门徒们所在地方的门户已经关上了，因为他们怕那些犹太人。耶稣出现了，站在他们当中，对他们说：“愿你们平安！”说了这话，他把手和肋旁给他们看。门徒们看见了主，就欢喜。耶稣又对他们说：“愿你们平安！正如父差派了我，我也要派遣你们。”说了这话，耶稣向他们吹了一口气，说：“领受圣灵吧！你们赦免谁的罪，谁的罪就已经被赦免了；你们留下谁的罪，谁的罪就已经被留下了。”当耶稣出现的时候，十二使徒中那叫迪杜马的多马没有与他们在一起。后来，其他的门徒就告诉他：“我们看到主了！”他却说：“我如果不看到他手上的钉痕，把指头放进那钉痕，再把手放进他的肋旁，我就绝不相信！”八天后，耶稣的门徒们又在屋里，多马也与他们在一起。门户已经关上了，耶稣却出现，站在他们当中说：“愿你们平安！”

他们去告诉其他的门徒，那些门徒也不相信他们。
