“ You shall not oppress your neighbor or rob him. The wages of a hired worker shall not remain with you all night until the morning.

“ Do not defraud or rob your neighbor.“ Do not make your hired workers wait until the next day to receive their pay.

Look! The pay that you withheld from the workers who mowed your fields cries out, and the outcry of the harvesters has reached the ears of the Lord of Armies.

“ I will come to you in judgment, and I will be ready to witness against sorcerers and adulterers; against those who swear falsely; against those who oppress the hired worker, the widow, and the fatherless; and against those who deny justice to the resident alien. They do not fear me,” says the LORD of Armies.

“ Do not oppress a hired worker who is poor and needy, whether one of your Israelite brothers or one of the resident aliens in a town in your land.You are to pay him his wages each day before the sun sets, because he is poor and depends on them. Otherwise he will cry out to the LORD against you, and you will be held guilty.

Differing weights and varying measures— both are detestable to the LORD.

if I have consumed its produce without payment or shown contempt for its tenants,

This is what the LORD says: Administer justice and righteousness. Rescue the victim of robbery from his oppressor. Don’t exploit or brutalize the resident alien, the fatherless, or the widow. Don’t shed innocent blood in this place.

You know the commandments: Do not murder; do not commit adultery; do not steal; do not bear false witness; do not defraud; honor your father and mother.”

My anger will burn, and I will kill you with the sword; then your wives will be widows and your children fatherless.“ If you lend silver to my people, to the poor person among you, you must not be like a creditor to him; you must not charge him interest.“ If you ever take your neighbor’s cloak as collateral, return it to him before sunset.For it is his only covering; it is the clothing for his body. What will he sleep in? And if he cries out to me, I will listen because I am gracious.

The people of the land have practiced extortion and committed robbery. They have oppressed the poor and needy and unlawfully exploited the resident alien.

If the thief is not caught, the owner of the house must present himself to the judges to determine whether or not he has taken his neighbor’s property.In any case of wrongdoing involving an ox, a donkey, a sheep, a garment, or anything else lost, and someone claims,‘ That’s mine,’ the case between the two parties is to come before the judges. The one the judges condemn must repay double to his neighbor.

Woe for the one who builds his palace through unrighteousness, his upstairs rooms through injustice, who makes his neighbor serve without pay and will not give him his wages,

Don’t rob a poor person because he is poor, and don’t crush the oppressed at the city gate,

or finds something lost and lies about it; or swears falsely about any of the sinful things a person may do—

This means one must not transgress against and take advantage of a brother or sister in this manner, because the Lord is an avenger of all these offenses, as we also previously told and warned you.

If its owner is there with it, the man does not have to make restitution. If it was rented, the loss is covered by its rental price.

If it was actually torn apart by a wild animal, he is to bring it as evidence; he does not have to make restitution for the torn carcass.

“ You must not exploit a resident alien or oppress him, since you were resident aliens in the land of Egypt.

He told them,“ Don’t collect any more than what you have been authorized.”
