“‘ Do not curse the deaf or put a stumbling block in front of the blind, but fear your God. I am the Lord.

“‘ Do not ask for bad things to happen to deaf people. Do not put anything in front of blind people that will make them trip. Instead, have respect for me. I am the Lord your God.

You shall not curse the deaf or put a stumbling block before the blind, but you shall fear your God: I am the Lord.

“ Do not insult the deaf or cause the blind to stumble. You must fear your God; I am the Lord.

You shall not curse a person who is deaf, nor put a stumbling block before a person who is blind, but you shall revere your God; I am the Lord.

You are not to cheat one another, but fear your God, for I am the LORD your God.

Food will not bring us close to God. We are not worse off if we don’t eat, and we are not better if we do eat.But be careful that this right of yours in no way becomes a stumbling block to the weak.For if someone sees you, the one who has knowledge, dining in an idol’s temple, won’t his weak conscience be encouraged to eat food offered to idols?So the weak person, the brother or sister for whom Christ died, is ruined by your knowledge.Now when you sin like this against brothers and sisters and wound their weak conscience, you are sinning against Christ.Therefore, if food causes my brother or sister to fall, I will never again eat meat, so that I won’t cause my brother or sister to fall.

Honor everyone. Love the brothers and sisters. Fear God. Honor the emperor.

Therefore, let us no longer judge one another. Instead decide never to put a stumbling block or pitfall in the way of your brother or sister.

Give no offense to Jews or Greeks or the church of God,

Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse.

The governors who preceded me had heavily burdened the people, taking from them food and wine as well as a pound of silver. Their subordinates also oppressed the people, but because of the fear of God, I didn’t do this.

On the third day Joseph said to them,“ I fear God— do this and you will live.

But I have a few things against you. You have some there who hold to the teaching of Balaam, who taught Balak to place a stumbling block in front of the Israelites: to eat meat sacrificed to idols and to commit sexual immorality.

If you appeal to the Father who judges impartially according to each one’s work, you are to conduct yourselves in reverence during your time living as strangers.
