大戶人家不但有金器銀器，也有木器瓦器，這些器皿的用途有貴賤之分。

我們不過是瓦器，裡面卻有這寶貝，要顯明這莫大的能力是上帝的，而不是我們自己的。

我必把猶大當弓拉開，把以法蓮當箭搭上，使錫安的眾子如勇士之劍，去攻打希臘的眾子。

首領雙手被吊起來，老人得不到尊敬。

「老人和小孩陳屍街頭，少男少女都喪身刀下。你在發怒的日子殺了他們，毫不留情。

陶匠難道不可以從一團泥中拿一部分造貴重的器皿，又拿一部分造平凡的器皿嗎？倘若上帝要顯示祂的烈怒和權能，就儘量容忍那些祂預備要毀滅的器皿，以便在那些祂憐憫並預備賜予榮耀的器皿上彰顯祂豐盛的榮耀，這難道不可以嗎？

你生育的兒子沒有一個來引導你，你撫養成人的眾子沒有一個來攙扶你。

難道哥尼雅是個被人鄙視、無人理睬的破瓶子嗎？為什麼他和他的子孫被趕到陌生之地？
