你的眼目極為清潔，見不得邪惡，也不能容忍罪惡。但你為何容忍奸惡之人呢？惡人吞滅比他們公義的人，你為何默然不語呢？

哈該又說：「如果因碰過屍體而變得不潔淨的人接觸這些食物，這些食物會變得不潔淨嗎？」祭司答道：「會變得不潔淨。」於是哈該說：「耶和華說，『這百姓和這國家在我面前也是如此。他們手中的各樣工作和他們在那裡所獻的都不潔淨。』

耶和華說：「耶利米啊，如果有百姓、先知或祭司問你，『耶和華有什麼啟示？』你要對他們說，『你們就是耶和華的重擔，耶和華說要丟棄你們。』

你們的罪過使你們與上帝隔絕，你們的罪惡使祂轉臉不看你們，也不聽你們的祈求。

以色列人聽了耶和華的天使說的話，就放聲大哭，

你們今日要離棄耶和華嗎？今日你們背叛耶和華，明日祂必向以色列全體會眾發怒。如果你們認為自己的土地不潔淨，可以搬到耶和華的土地跟我們一起居住，這裡有耶和華的聖幕。只是不可在耶和華的祭壇以外，自己另築祭壇，以致背叛耶和華，連累我們。從前謝拉的曾孫亞干私自留下那些耶和華吩咐要毀滅的東西，以致耶和華的烈怒臨到以色列全體會眾，因他的罪而死的不只他一個人！」
