But the Israelites were unfaithful in regard to the devoted things; Achan son of Karmi, the son of Zimri, the son of Zerah, of the tribe of Judah, took some of them. So the Lord’s anger burned against Israel.

But the Israelites weren’t faithful to the Lord. They didn’t destroy what had been set apart to him. So they did not do what they had been told to do. Achan had taken some of those things. So the Lord became very angry with Israel. Achan was the son of Karmi. Karmi was the son of Zimri. And Zimri was the son of Zerah. Achan and all his relatives were from the tribe of Judah.

But the people of Israel broke faith in regard to the devoted things, for Achan the son of Carmi, son of Zabdi, son of Zerah, of the tribe of Judah, took some of the devoted things. And the anger of the Lord burned against the people of Israel.

But Israel violated the instructions about the things set apart for the Lord. A man named Achan had stolen some of these dedicated things, so the Lord was very angry with the Israelites. Achan was the son of Carmi, a descendant of Zimri son of Zerah, of the tribe of Judah.

The Israelites, however, were unfaithful regarding the things set apart for destruction. Achan son of Carmi, son of Zabdi, son of Zerah, of the tribe of Judah, took some of what was set apart, and the LORD’s anger burned against the Israelites.

But the sons of Israel acted unfaithfully regarding the things designated for destruction, for Achan, the son of Carmi, the son of Zabdi, the son of Zerah, from the tribe of Judah, took some of the designated things; therefore the anger of the Lord burned against the sons of Israel.

昔謝拉後裔亞干、豈非因取歸主之物獲罪、而主怒臨及以色列會眾乎、獨彼一人、反不因其罪而死、獨彼一人反不因其罪而死或作且斯人因其罪不獨一人死亡○

謝拉子乃心利、以探、希幔、甲各、大拉、大拉即達大共五人、迦米子亞迦、亞迦即亞干見約書亞第七章一節此亞迦、昔擅取歸主之物、使以色列人陷於禍、

此城及凡其中所有、或歸主、或當滅、惟妓拉哈曾匿我所遣之使、可生存與其全家、物歸於主或為當滅者、爾自慎、勿取之、取之則成為當滅者、並使以色列全營亦為當滅者、陷之於禍、

天主不悅此事、遂擊以色列人、

亞干對約書亞曰、我果獲罪於主以色列之天主、我之所行如此如此、我於奪獲貨財中、見自示拿來之美服一襲、銀二百舍客勒、約一百兩金一錠重五十舍客勒、約二十五兩我貪而取之、今物在我幕中藏於地、銀在衣下、

主之會眾如此云、爾今建一祭臺、叛逆主、離棄主、干犯以色列天主、爾曹犯此罪何意、

當謹慎、恐爾中有失天主之恩者、恐有毒根滋長、妨礙爾眾、使多人染穢污、恐有行淫者、褻瀆者如以掃、彼為一餐、鬻長子之業、

我天主歟、我含羞負愧、不敢向我天主仰面、蓋我儕罪惡滅頂、我儕愆尤滔天、

今日爾曹又離棄主乎、今日爾曹叛逆主、恐明日主怒以色列會眾、

主復怒以色列人、感動大衛、使之命人往核以色列人及猶大人之數、

舟人曰、莫若掣籤、觀我儕今日遭此災、緣誰之故、遂掣籤而取約拿、

遂棄主其列祖之天主殿、奉事諸亞舍拉與偶像、因此罪、主震怒、降災於猶大及耶路撒冷、

智慧愈於兵刃、一愚者愚者原文作罪人敗諸美事、美事或作嘉謀

聞爾中有淫亂、有佔父之繼室者、若是之淫亂、即異邦人中、亦未之有也、爾猶妄自誇大、而不痛哭、使行此者、見除於爾中、我身雖遠、而神偕爾、如我與爾同在、已擬定行此事之人、即爾會集之時、我神亦偕爾、奉我主耶穌基督之名、託我主耶穌基督之權、付此人於撒但、以敗其身、使其靈魂、於主耶穌基督之日得救、○爾之自誇、非善也、豈不知些須之酵、能發全團乎、

猶大人、耶路撒冷居民、及以色列眾、因獲罪於主、主逐之散於各邦、或近或遠、有若今日之景況、我儕遭此、面蒙羞愧、惟主至公至義、
