他們就問他說：『我們應該怎樣處置你，使海平靜下來、而不沖撞我們？』這是因為海越來越翻騰着。

他们又对他说：“我们该对你怎么做，才能使海为我们平静下来呢？”因为海浪越来越汹涌了。

又謂之曰、我當何以待爾、使海為我而恬靜乎、因海久而愈盪、

又曰、今海震盪愈甚、當若何待爾、則風浪可息。

又曰、今海之波濤洶湧已甚、當若何待爾、使海恬靜乎、

The sea was getting rougher and rougher. So they asked him,“ What should we do to you to make the sea calm down for us?”

Then they said to him,“ What shall we do to you, that the sea may quiet down for us?” For the sea grew more and more tempestuous.

And since the storm was getting worse all the time, they asked him,“ What should we do to you to stop this storm?”

So they said to him,“ What should we do to you so that the sea will calm down for us?” For the sea was getting worse and worse.

So they said to him,“ What should we do to you so that the sea will become calm for us?”— for the sea was becoming increasingly stormy.

Then they said to him,“ What shall we do to you that the sea may be calm for us?”— for the sea was growing more tempestuous.

Then said they unto him, What shall we do unto thee, that the sea may be calm unto us? for the sea grew more and more tempestuous.

So they said to him,“ What should we do to you to calm this sea that’s against us?” For the sea was getting worse and worse.

Then said they unto him, What shall we do unto thee, that the sea may be calm unto us? for the sea wrought, and was tempestuous.

Because the storm was growing worse and worse, they said to him,“ What should we do to you to make the sea calm down for us?”

Then they said to him,“ What shall we do to you, that the sea may be calm to us?” For the sea grew more and more stormy.

當大衛在位的日子鬧饑荒，一年過一年、共三年；大衛就尋求朝見永恆主。永恆主說：『掃羅和他的家有殺人流血的罪，因為他殺死了基遍人。』基遍人原來不是以色列人，乃是亞摩利人中剩下來的；以色列人曾經和他們有誓約；掃羅卻對以色列人和猶大人生了妒愛熱情，想法子要擊殺基遍人。大衛王把基遍人召了來，問他們說：大衛是這樣問基遍人說：『我應當為你們作甚麼？我應該用甚麼來贖罪，使你們為永恆主的產業祝福呢？』基遍人對大衛說：『我們跟掃羅和他家的事並不在乎金銀；也不要因我們的緣故在以色列中殺死一個人。』大衛說：『那麼你們怎麼說，我就為你們怎麼作好啦。』他們對王說：『從前毁壞我們、謀害我們、要消滅我們、使我們在以色列全境內站不住腳的那人，現在你要將他的子孫七人交給我們，我們好在永恆主面前把他們正法示眾在基遍永恆主的山上。』王說：『我要交給你們。』

大衛早晨起來；永恆主的話傳與為大衛做先見者的神言人迦得，說：『你去告訴大衛說：「永恆主這麼說：我提出三樣災要降於你，隨你選擇一樣，我好向你施行。」』於是迦得來見大衛，通知他，問他說：『你願意你這地有三年饑荒呢？還是你在敵人面前逃跑、而他追趕着你三個月呢？抑或在你這地有三天的瘟疫呢？現在你要思想、要看清楚我該用甚麼話去回覆那差遣我的。』

我朝見永恆主，在高高的上帝面前屈身，該帶着甚麼？難道我朝見他、要帶着燔祭，帶着一歲的牛犢麼？難道永恆主還喜悅千千的公羊，或萬萬的油河麼？難道我可為我的過犯獻我的長子？為我的罪獻我身所生的果子麼？

非利士人把祭司和占卜者叫了來，說：『我們要怎樣處置永恆主的櫃呢？請讓我們知道須要用甚麼法子將櫃送回原處去。』他們說：『若要將以色列上帝的櫃送走，你們不可空空送去，總要將賠罪禮物還給他，然後能得醫好，也能知道他的手為甚麼沒有離開你們。』
