When Job’s three friends, Eliphaz the Temanite, Bildad the Shuhite and Zophar the Naamathite, heard about all the troubles that had come upon him, they set out from their homes and met together by agreement to go and sympathize with him and comfort him.

Job had three friends named Eliphaz the Temanite, Bildad the Shuhite, and Zophar the Naamathite. They heard about all the troubles that had come to Job. So they started out from their homes. They had agreed to meet together. They wanted to go and show their concern for Job. They wanted to comfort him.

Now when Job’s three friends heard of all this evil that had come upon him, they came each from his own place, Eliphaz the Temanite, Bildad the Shuhite, and Zophar the Naamathite. They made an appointment together to come to show him sympathy and comfort him.

When three of Job’s friends heard of the tragedy he had suffered, they got together and traveled from their homes to comfort and console him. Their names were Eliphaz the Temanite, Bildad the Shuhite, and Zophar the Naamathite.

以利法的兒子是提幔、阿抹、洗玻、迦坦、基納斯，

以下是以掃子孫中的族長。以掃的長子以利法的子孫中有提幔族長、阿抹族長、洗玻族長、基納斯族長、

朋友時時彼此關愛，手足生來患難與共。

亞伯拉罕的妾基土拉所生的兒子是心蘭、約珊、米但、米甸、伊施巴、書亞。約珊的兒子是示巴和底但。

提瑪的商隊來找水喝，示巴的旅客指望解渴，

如果身體某個肢體感到痛苦，全身也一同受苦。如果某個肢體得到榮耀，全身也一同喜樂。

很多猶太人來看瑪大和瑪麗亞，為她們兄弟的事來安慰她們。

書亞人比勒達回答約伯說：

「即使絕望者拋棄對上帝的敬畏，也應該得到朋友的恩待。

他的兒女都來安慰他，他卻不肯接受他們的安慰，說：「我一定會淒淒慘慘地下到陰間，去我兒子那裡。」約瑟的父親為他哀哭。

不可拋棄你的朋友和父親的至交。患難時別投靠兄弟，近鄰勝過遠親。

書亞人比勒達回答說：

「我的朋友啊，可憐我吧！可憐我吧！因為上帝的手擊打我。

要設身處地地顧念那些被囚禁的人，要感同身受地顧念那些遭遇苦難的人。

而你們只會編造謊言，都是無用的庸醫。

「這些話，我聽過很多，你們安慰人，反讓人愁煩。

我的密友都憎惡我，我愛的人也反對我。

提幔人以利法回答說：

濫交友，自招損；得知己，勝手足。

耶和華對約伯說完這些話後，就對提幔人以利法說：「你和你的兩個朋友令我憤怒，因為你們對我的議論不如我僕人約伯說的有理。

我的朋友譏笑我，我在上帝面前流淚。

荒涼、毀滅、饑荒、戰禍已臨到你身上，誰會為你哀哭呢？誰能安慰你呢？
