If I have told you people about earthly things and you don’t believe, how will you believe if I tell you about heavenly things?

我对你们说地上的事，你们尚且不信，若说天上的事，如何能信呢？

我言屬地之事、爾尚不信、若言屬天之事、何能信乎、

吾語汝以地上之事、汝猶未信、若語汝以天上之事、又如何能信。

I have spoken to you of earthly things and you do not believe; how then will you believe if I speak of heavenly things?

I have spoken to you about earthly things, and you do not believe. So how will you believe if I speak about heavenly things?

If I have told you earthly things and you do not believe, how can you believe if I tell you heavenly things?

But if you don’t believe me when I tell you about earthly things, how can you possibly believe if I tell you about heavenly things?

If I have told you about things that happen on earth and you don’t believe, how will you believe if I tell you about things of heaven?

So, brothers and sisters, I could not speak to you as spiritual people, but instead as people of the flesh, as infants in Christ.I fed you milk, not solid food, for you were not yet ready. In fact, you are still not ready,

So get rid of all evil and all deceit and hypocrisy and envy and all slander.And yearn like newborn infants for pure, spiritual milk, so that by it you may grow up to salvation,if you have experienced the Lord’s kindness.

On this topic we have much to say and it is difficult to explain, since you have become sluggish in hearing.

Instead we speak the wisdom of God, hidden in a mystery, that God determined before the ages for our glory.None of the rulers of this age understood it. If they had known it, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory.But just as it is written,“ Things that no eye has seen, or ear heard, or mind imagined, are the things God has prepared for those who love him.”

And we all agree, our religion contains amazing revelation: He was revealed in the flesh, vindicated by the Spirit, seen by angels, proclaimed among Gentiles, believed on in the world, taken up in glory.

No one has ascended into heaven except the one who descended from heaven– the Son of Man.Just as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, so must the Son of Man be lifted up,so that everyone who believes in him may have eternal life.”For this is the way God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world should be saved through him.

The wind blows wherever it will, and you hear the sound it makes, but do not know where it comes from and where it is going. So it is with everyone who is born of the Spirit.”

The one who comes from above is superior to all. The one who is from the earth belongs to the earth and speaks about earthly things. The one who comes from heaven is superior to all.He testifies about what he has seen and heard, but no one accepts his testimony.The one who has accepted his testimony has confirmed clearly that God is truthful.For the one whom God has sent speaks the words of God, for he does not give the Spirit sparingly.The Father loves the Son and has placed all things under his authority.The one who believes in the Son has eternal life. The one who rejects the Son will not see life, but God’s wrath remains on him.

Jesus replied,“ I tell you the solemn truth, unless a person is born from above, he cannot see the kingdom of God.”

Jesus answered,“ I tell you the solemn truth, unless a person is born of water and spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God.

In this is love: not that we have loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the atoning sacrifice for our sins.

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was fully God.The Word was with God in the beginning.All things were created by him, and apart from him not one thing was created that has been created.In him was life, and the life was the light of mankind.And the light shines on in the darkness, but the darkness has not mastered it.A man came, sent from God, whose name was John.He came as a witness to testify about the light, so that everyone might believe through him.He himself was not the light, but he came to testify about the light.The true light, who gives light to everyone, was coming into the world.He was in the world, and the world was created by him, but the world did not recognize him.He came to what was his own, but his own people did not receive him.But to all who have received him– those who believe in his name– he has given the right to become God’s children– children not born by human parents or by human desire or a husband’s decision, but by God.Now the Word became flesh and took up residence among us. We saw his glory– the glory of the one and only, full of grace and truth, who came from the Father.
