Instead your hearts are filled with sadness because I have said these things to you.

Rather, you are filled with grief because I have said these things.

Instead, you are filled with sadness because I have said these things.

But because I have said these things to you, sorrow has filled your heart.

Instead, you grieve because of what I’ve told you.

Yet, because I have spoken these things to you, sorrow has filled your heart.

But because I have said these things to you, grief has filled your heart.

But because I have said these things to you, sorrow has filled your heart.

But because I have spoken these things unto you, sorrow hath filled your heart.

Yet, because I have spoken these things to you, sorrow has filled your heart.

But because I have told you these things, sorrow has filled your heart.

“ Do not let your hearts be distressed. You believe in God; believe also in me.

I tell you the solemn truth, you will weep and wail, but the world will rejoice; you will be sad, but your sadness will turn into joy.When a woman gives birth, she has distress because her time has come, but when her child is born, she no longer remembers the suffering because of her joy that a human being has been born into the world.So also you have sorrow now, but I will see you again, and your hearts will rejoice, and no one will take your joy away from you.

Then he said to them,“ What are these matters you are discussing so intently as you walk along?” And they stood still, looking sad.

But Mary stood outside the tomb weeping. As she wept, she bent down and looked into the tomb.And she saw two angels in white sitting where Jesus’ body had been lying, one at the head and one at the feet.They said to her,“ Woman, why are you weeping?” Mary replied,“ They have taken my Lord away, and I do not know where they have put him!”When she had said this, she turned around and saw Jesus standing there, but she did not know that it was Jesus.Jesus said to her,“ Woman, why are you weeping? Who are you looking for?” Because she thought he was the gardener, she said to him,“ Sir, if you have carried him away, tell me where you have put him, and I will take him.”

“ Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you; I do not give it to you as the world does. Do not let your hearts be distressed or lacking in courage.You heard me say to you,‘ I am going away and I am coming back to you.’ If you loved me, you would be glad that I am going to the Father, because the Father is greater than I am.

When he got up from prayer, he came to the disciples and found them sleeping, exhausted from grief.
