Then Jesus told them,“ You are going to have the light just a little while longer. Walk while you have the light, before darkness overtakes you. Whoever walks in the dark does not know where they are going.

Jesus replied,“ My light will shine for you just a little longer. Walk in the light while you can, so the darkness will not overtake you. Those who walk in the darkness cannot see where they are going.

『瞬息之間、而爾不得睹予矣！復一瞬息、而爾又得見予矣！』

予之來、所以為世之光、庶幾信予者不復滯留於黑暗之中。

耶穌又謂眾曰：『予乃世之光、從予者不行黑暗中、必具生命之光。』

蓋爾等本屬昏昏、今則因主而為昭昭矣。故行事當光明正大、庶不愧為光明之子。

若夜行、則無光而蹶矣。』

吾人若曰吾已與天主神交心契、而同時猶行於暗昧之中、是為欺心之人、言不顧行、行不顧言者也吾人能實踐光明之道、有如天主之光明者、則吾人實已彼此神交心契、而天主聖子耶穌之寶血、實已滌除吾人之罪矣。

耶穌乃謂之曰：『予與爾俱尚有須臾、將歸詣遣予者；

及爾有光爾當景仰、庶成光明之子。』語畢、耶穌退而潛居。

蓋爾皆為光明之子、旦晝之人、非屬於暮夜與黑暗也。故吾人不欲效世人之醉生夢死、常宜昭昭惺惺、淡泊有節。蓋沉睡者必於昏夜、狂飲者亦必於昏夜。吾人既屬旦晝、可不恆懷惕若、終日乾乾、擁信愛以為甲、戴望德以為胄、而期待救恩乎。

及茲白晝、吾儕當暢行遣予者之事、夜至則無能為矣。吾之在世、所以為世之光也。』

眾人之不信、意灑雅亦已言之矣：『主已蒙其目、主已頑其心、恐其目有見、恐其心有靈、恐其即回頭、令吾全其生。』

光照冥冥。冥冥不領。天主遣使。名曰如望。如望之來。惟以證光。俾我元元。藉以起信。渠非真光。真光之證。惟彼真光。普照生靈。凡生於世。資之以明。

然則如何？曰：義塞之所求、未之得也、其中蒙恩者得之、而其餘則已成麻木不仁之徒矣。經云：『天主已使其冥頑不靈、有目而不能見、有耳而不能聞、以迄於今；』此之謂也。大維亦曰：『願其筵席之化作羅穽兮、自食其所作之孽。願其目之昏矇而不見兮、背常曲而不直。』

然若輩已冥頑成心、而不可感化矣。即在今日、讀舊約時、此帕猶依然未揭；而不知舊約已因基督而廢棄矣。

雖然、吾所書者、亦可謂之新誡命、主所體認、亦爾等所體認者也。蓋暗昧寖消、而真光已著矣。凡人自言處光明中、而猶嫉惡其兄弟者、則依然未脫暗昧之域也。惟愛其兄弟者、方為處於光明、而其心中罪根已除、反之、嫉惡其兄弟者、實仍處於暗昧、行於暗昧、而茫然不知其所向；蓋其心目已為暗昧所蒙、而失其視覺矣。

人既令予嘗膽兮。又飲予以敗醯。願其筵席之化為羅網兮。俾紛紛然而自罹。願其目之喪明兮。願其腰之不支。願聖怒之加於其身兮。願其居室之成墟。予既受爾之懲創兮。彼又悻悻然而侮予。幸災而樂禍兮。加新痛於舊傷。願其罪上加罪兮。無與於吾主之恩光。

夜如何其、夜將闌！而曙將至矣！吾人尚可不去曖昧之行、被光明之甲、以期優遊於光天化日之下乎？醉生夢死、沉湎酒色、嫉妒鬥狠、皆非所宜。務須服膺吾主耶穌基督、有如衣之被體。毋汲汲以滿足情慾為事也。

故曰：睡者其興、死者其起！惟彼基督、光明照爾。是以爾當小心翼翼、勿效無智、思齊有智。

因此、聖神警吾人曰：『今日若聞慈音、慎毋鐵石乃心！炯戒不遠、在爾先人；率彼曠野、頻忤吾神；
