至是若輩又欲執之；耶穌脫手避去、復至約旦河外、在如望初授洗處而居焉；

凡人自言處光明中、而猶嫉惡其兄弟者、則依然未脫暗昧之域也。惟愛其兄弟者、方為處於光明、而其心中罪根已除、反之、嫉惡其兄弟者、實仍處於暗昧、行於暗昧、而茫然不知其所向；蓋其心目已為暗昧所蒙、而失其視覺矣。

遂離而出城、至伯大尼宿焉。
