耶穌聞訊、答使者曰：『斯病不致於死、惟以榮天主、亦以顯揚天主子。』

耶稣听见，就说：“这病不至于死，乃是为神的荣耀，叫神的儿子因此得荣耀。”

When he heard this, Jesus said,“ This sickness will not end in death. No, it is for God’s glory so that God’s Son may be glorified through it.”

But when Jesus heard it he said,“ This illness does not lead to death. It is for the glory of God, so that the Son of God may be glorified through it.”

But when Jesus heard about it he said,“ Lazarus’s sickness will not end in death. No, it happened for the glory of God so that the Son of God will receive glory from this.”

耶穌曰：『予不曾云汝但能信、必獲睹天主之光榮乎？』

耶穌對曰：『非由其本身、亦非其父母之罪、惟欲使天主之功德、彰於其身耳。

爾等若果因基督之名而受唾罵、福莫大焉！蓋誠能如此、則光榮大能之聖神、天主之聖神、以爾為安宅矣。

欲使眾人敬子如敬父、凡不敬子者、即不敬遣子之父也。

及其既出、耶穌乃曰：『今人子受榮、而天主亦因人子而受榮焉。天主既因人子而受榮天主亦必以己之榮榮之、而榮之即在目前、

耶穌曰：『予若自榮、亦何榮之有？榮予者吾父也！吾父非他、即爾自言為爾天主者是。

今求吾父、賜予偕享創世前與父共有之榮！

進而謂眾曰：『何為喧嚷悲哭、女未死、乃睡耳。』眾皆笑之。耶穌遣眾出、率女之父母與偕來之徒、逕至女處、執其手曰：『大利達固米！』譯言『女郎、吾命汝起！』即起且行。女時年十二。眾睹此靈蹟莫不駭絕。

是為耶穌顯靈蹟之始、行於加利利之嘉納村；聲譽日著、門徒乃信焉。

父乎、其光榮爾名！』時有音發自天上曰：『吾已榮之、將復榮之。』

亦所以償吾心期、終不致有所愧忝。因是平生勇氣、至今未衰。必欲獻吾之身、以弘基督。生可也、死亦可也。

諭畢、耶穌舉目向天曰：『父、時至矣！榮爾子、俾子歸榮於父！

凡此皆為爾等之益也。爾等之得信奉天主、實賴基督之德、而天主者、則起基督於死者之中、而鍚以光榮者也。是故爾宜堅守信德、一心仰望天主。

然則義塞人之躓也、將一厥而不振乎？無是理也！夫因彼之顛墜、救恩乃普及於異邦之人、是亦所以激發之耳。

同時仰賴耶穌基督滿結仁義之實、以顯揚天主。

凡任宣講者、當講述聖道、一若為天主之舌人者；其任服務者、則當依天主所賦之才力、儘量貢獻。總之、任作何事、務求以耶穌基督之名、歸榮天主。但願天主享受光榮與德能、永世靡暨、心焉祝之。

蓋凡予所有、皆父所有、凡父所有、皆予所有。且予亦已因若輩而見榮矣。

於是若輩復召夙盲之人、而語之曰：『汝其以天主光榮為懷！吾人明知彼乃罪人。』
