你因路途遙遠而困乏，卻不說：『唉，絕望了！』你為了自己的精力得了新生，因此你也不覺得疲弱。

在說謊話之假裝中、這種人的良知是被熱鐵烙麻木了的。

他們使舌頭尖銳如刀，比準了他們的箭，就是苦毒的話，

鐵匠雕造了偶像，在火炭中加工，用鎚子製造它、用他大力的膀臂給它加工，他竟饑餓而沒有力量，他沒有喝水而困倦疲乏。木匠拉線，用筆畫出樣子，用鉋子鉋平它，用彎尺畫出樣子，作成人的模形，有人類的俊美，好住在廟中。他自己砍伐香柏樹，又是選取冬青檞或橡樹，讓它在樹林中茁壯起來，或是栽種樅樹，讓雨水使它長大。

嗐，它使我勞累辛苦！它厚厚的垢渣仍然沒有除去；它的垢渣用火也不能燒除。

他們彎了舌頭像弓一樣；在這地得勢的是虛假、不是忠信；因為他們是出於壞而歸於壞的，連我、他們也不認識：永恆主發神諭說。

各人都幫助鄰舍，各人都對弟兄說：『要剛強！』木匠鼓勵銀匠，用鎚打光滑的、鼓勵用鎚打砧的，論銲工說：『銲得好』；他們使用釘子釘穩，使偶像不動搖。

你使你的口任說壞話，你的舌頭編造詭詐。

因為他們若不行惡，就睡不着覺；若不使人跌倒，其安眠就被奪去。

所以你們要脫去虛謊，各人同鄰舍說實話，因為我們是互相為肢體的。

看哪，惡人產痛地生了奸惡：他所懷孕的是毒害，所生的是虛假。

看哪，萬族之民只為了給火焚燒而勞碌，列國之民只為了虛空而疲乏，不都是出於萬軍之永恆主麼？

有禍啊，那些以虛謊的繩索牽引着罪罰，像以套車粗繩拉罪之報應的人；

他們的舌頭是殺人的利箭，他嘴裏逕說詭詐：他跟鄰舍說和平話，心裏卻設伏要害他。
