You live in the midst of deception; in their deceit they refuse to acknowledge me,” declares the Lord.

Jeremiah, you live among people who tell lies. When they lie, they refuse to pay any attention to me,” announces the Lord.

Heaping oppression upon oppression, and deceit upon deceit, they refuse to know me, declares the Lord.

They pile lie upon lie and utterly refuse to acknowledge me,” says the Lord.

You live in a world of deception. In their deception they refuse to know me. This is the LORD’s declaration.

They do one act of violence after another, and one deceitful thing after another. They refuse to pay attention to me,” says the LORD.

我呼喚，你們既不肯聽，我伸手，既無人理會，

光到了世界上來，人愛黑暗、而不愛光，因為他們的行為邪惡：這就是被定罪的因由。凡作壞事的都恨光，不來就光，恐怕他的行為被訐發；

因為他們恨惡知識，並不選擇敬畏永恆主的事；

我卻像柔順的羊羔，被牽到屠殺之地。我並不知道他們設計謀是要害死我；他們說：『我們來把樹連樹汁都滅掉，將他從活人之地剪除掉，使他的名不再被記念。』

這壞人民、不肯聽我的話、只隨着自己頑強之心意而行，去隨從別的神、而事奉敬拜的，讓他們像這圍腰服毫無用處罷！

然而他們對上帝說：「離開我們吧！我們不願意認識你的道路。全能者是甚麼，我們得事奉他呀？我們向他祈求、有甚麼用處？」

這人民為甚麼長久轉離呢？他們執迷着詭詐，不肯轉回。

他們怎樣在認識上帝選擇了「無上帝」，上帝就怎樣把他們放給不上選的心思，去行不該行的事；

應當清醒過來，按正義行；別犯罪了。有人對於上帝只是無知無識；我說這話、是要讓你們羞愧的。

籠內怎樣滿了雀鳥，他們屋裏也怎樣充滿着詭詐所捉着的；因此他們成了昌大富裕的人。

我的人民因無知識而被毁滅；你、你既棄絕了知識，我也必棄絕你、不讓你做我的祭司。你既忘了你的上帝的禮節規矩，我、我也必忘了你的兒女。

我聽見了許多人的讒誹；四圍盡是恐怖！『告發他！我們要告發他！』我的一切盟友，那些等着瞧我顛沛的說：『或者他被誘騙，我們就能勝過他，而在他身上得報復。』

他們就說：『來吧，我們來設計謀害耶利米；因為祭司有禮節規矩，智慧人有謀略，神言人有話語，都不能斷絕掉。來吧，我們用口舌攻擊他，他的甚麼話、我們都別理它。』

『永恆主啊，援救我脫離虛假之嘴脣，詭詐之舌頭！』詭詐之舌頭啊，要用甚麼去給你呢？要拿甚麼來加給你呢？就是勇士的利箭、同羅騰木的炭火！我有禍啊，因為我寄居在米設，我住在基達的帳棚中！我跟那恨惡和平的人同住太久了。
