Lord, my heart is weak inside me. You comfort me when I’m sad.

My joy is gone; grief is upon me; my heart is sick within me.

My grief is beyond healing; my heart is broken.

My joy has flown away; grief has settled on me. My heart is sick.

My sorrow is beyond healing, My heart is faint within me!

I would comfort myself in sorrow; My heart is faint in me.

Therefore I said,“ Turn away from me; let me weep bitterly. Do not try to console me over the destruction of my people.”

Then one who looked like a man touched my lips, and I opened my mouth and began to speak. I said to the one standing before me,“ I am overcome with anguish because of the vision, my lord, and I feel very weak.How can I, your servant, talk with you, my lord? My strength is gone and I can hardly breathe.”

When I think my bed will comfort me and my couch will ease my complaint,even then you frighten me with dreams and terrify me with visions,

I heard and my heart pounded, my lips quivered at the sound; decay crept into my bones, and my legs trembled. Yet I will wait patiently for the day of calamity to come on the nation invading us.

We have heard reports about them, and our hands hang limp. Anguish has gripped us, pain like that of a woman in labor.

Woe to me because of my injury! My wound is incurable! Yet I said to myself,“ This is my sickness, and I must endure it.”My tent is destroyed; all its ropes are snapped. My children are gone from me and are no more; no one is left now to pitch my tent or to set up my shelter.The shepherds are senseless and do not inquire of the Lord; so they do not prosper and all their flock is scattered.Listen! The report is coming— a great commotion from the land of the north! It will make the towns of Judah desolate, a haunt of jackals.
