Do not go out to the fields or walk on the roads, for the enemy has a sword, and there is terror on every side.

我聽見許多人竊竊私語：「看那個說『四面有恐怖』的人，我們告發他！告發他！」我的好友都盼著我滅亡，說：「或許他會受騙，那樣我們便能打倒他，一泄心頭之恨。」

恐懼四面籠罩著他，步步緊追著他。

他們說：「我們為什麼還坐在這裡？大家一起進入堅城，死在那裡吧！我們的上帝耶和華要毀滅我們，給我們毒藥喝，因為我們得罪了祂。

「你們要在猶大和耶路撒冷宣告，『要在全國吹起號角』，高聲呼喊，『要集合起來，我們要逃進堅城。』

第二天，他釋放了耶利米，耶利米對他說：「耶和華不再叫你巴施戶珥，要叫你瑪歌珥·米撒畢。因為耶和華說，『我要使你和你的朋友都驚慌失措，讓你親眼看見你的朋友死在敵人刀下；我要把猶大人都交在巴比倫王手中，使他們或被殺或被擄到巴比倫；

在亞拿的兒子珊迦與雅億的時代，大路行人絕跡，旅客繞道而行。我底波拉做以色列之母以前，以色列的鄉村人煙稀少。

我說：「唉！主耶和華啊，你完全欺騙了這群百姓和耶路撒冷人，因為你說，『你們會安享太平。』其實劍鋒已指著他們的咽喉了。」

那時，人們出入不得平安，因為各地都有動亂。

因為有一天敵人要在你周圍築起壁壘把你團團圍住，四面攻擊你。

如果你們執意叛逆，就必喪身刀下。」這是耶和華親口說的。
