耶和华说：“敌人要攻击巴比伦的居民及其首领和谋士；

刀剑必攻击迦勒底人，攻击巴比伦的居民，攻击它的领袖和智慧人。”这是耶和华的宣告。

“ A sword against the Babylonians!” declares the Lord—“ against those who live in Babylon and against her officials and wise men!

“ A sword is coming against the Babylonians!” announces the Lord.“ It is coming against those who live in Babylon. It is coming against their officials and wise men.

“ A sword against the Chaldeans, declares the Lord, and against the inhabitants of Babylon, and against her officials and her wise men!

“ The sword of destruction will strike the Babylonians,” says the Lord.“ It will strike the people of Babylon— her officials and wise men, too.

A sword is over the Chaldeans— this is the LORD’s declaration— against those who live in Babylon, against her officials, and against her sages.

A sword against the Chaldeans,” declares the Lord,“ And against the inhabitants of Babylon And against her leaders and her wise men!

“ A sword is against the Chaldeans,” says the Lord,“ Against the inhabitants of Babylon, And against her princes and her wise men.

A sword is upon the Chaldeans, saith Jehovah, and upon the inhabitants of Babylon, and upon her princes, and upon her wise men.

A sword is over the Chaldeans— this is the Lord’s declaration— against those who live in Babylon, against her officials, and against her sages.

“ Destructive forces will come against the Babylonians,” says the LORD.“ They will come against the people who inhabit Babylonia, against her leaders and her men of wisdom.

“ A sword is on the Chaldeans,” says Yahweh,“ and on the inhabitants of Babylon, on her princes, and on her wise men.

耶和華的刀劍哪，你要到幾時才止息呢？要入鞘，安靜不動。

刀劍必臨到他們的城鎮，毀壞門閂，吞滅眾人，都因他們自己的計謀。

當夜，迦勒底王伯沙撒被殺。

大聲吩咐將巫師、迦勒底人和觀兆的領進來。王對巴比倫的智慧人說：「誰能讀這文字，並且向我講解它的意思，他必身穿紫袍，項帶金鏈，在我國中位列第三。」於是王所有的智慧人都進前來，他們卻不能讀那文字，也不能為王講解它的意思。

我必使巴比倫的領袖、智慧人、省長、官員和勇士都喝醉，使他們永遠沉睡，不再醒起。這是名為萬軍之耶和華的君王說的。

伯沙撒王為他的一千大臣擺設盛筵，與這一千人飲酒。伯沙撒在歡飲之間，吩咐人將他父尼布甲尼撒從耶路撒冷聖殿所擄掠的金銀器皿拿來，好使王與大臣、王后、妃嬪用這器皿飲酒。

所以它的壯丁必仆倒在街上。當那日，它的士兵全都必靜默無聲。這是耶和華說的。

我從北方興起一人，他從日出之地而來，是求告我名的；他必踩踏掌權者，如踩踏泥土，又如陶匠踹泥一般。

萬國的王啊，誰不敬畏你？敬畏你本是合宜的；列國所有的智慧人中，在他們一切的國度裏，都沒有能與你相比的。

智慧人慚愧，驚惶，被擒拿；看哪，他們背棄耶和華的話，還會有甚麼智慧呢？

耶和華的話臨到我，說：

耶和華必以火與刀審判凡有血肉之軀的，被耶和華所殺的很多。

瑣安的官長極其愚昧，法老智慧的謀士籌劃愚謀；你們怎敢對法老說：「我是智慧人的子孫，是古代國王的後裔？」你的智慧人在哪裏？萬軍之耶和華向埃及所定的旨意，他們既然知道，就讓他們告訴你吧！瑣安的官長愚昧，挪弗的官長受蒙蔽；作埃及支派棟梁的，帶領埃及走錯了路。

禍哉！無用的牧人丟棄羊羣，刀必臨到他的膀臂和右眼上；他的膀臂必全然枯乾，他的右眼也必昏暗失明。」

我使虛謊的預兆失效，愚弄占卜的人，使智慧人退後，使他的知識變為愚拙；

我要使刀劍臨到你們，報復你們的背約。你們若被趕入城中，我要降瘟疫在你們中間，把你們交在仇敵手中。

你籌劃太多，以致疲倦。讓那些觀天象，看星宿，在初一說預言的都起來，救你脫離所要臨到你的事！看哪，他們要像碎稭被火焚燒，無法救自己脫離火焰的魔掌；沒有炭火可以取暖，你也不能坐在火旁。

所以，看哪，我要在這百姓中行奇妙的事，就是奇妙又奇妙的事。他們智慧人的智慧必然消滅，聰明人的聰明必然消失。」

他們食慾一來的時候，我必為他們擺設酒席，使他們沉醉，好叫他們快樂；他們睡了長覺，永不醒起。這是耶和華說的。

要殺它一切的牛犢，使牠們下去遭殺戮。他們有禍了，因為他們的日子，就是他們受罰的時刻已經來到。
