Fathers will hear the hoofbeats of the enemies’ horses, the clatter of their chariots and the rumbling of their wheels. They will not turn back to save their children because they will be paralyzed with fear.

那时马蹄沓沓，勇士急奔飞驰。

从但那里听见敌人战马的喷气声，全地因听见壮马的嘶鸣声震动。他们来是要吞灭土地和地上所有的，要吞灭城和城中的居民。

战车在街上狂奔，在广场上东奔西驰；它们看起来像火把，跑起来像闪电。

马的大力是你所赐的吗？它颈上的鬃毛是你披上的吗？是你使它跳跃像蝗虫吗？它喷气之威使人惊惶。它在谷中扒地，以己力为乐，它出去迎战手持武器的人。它讥笑可怕的事，并不惊慌，也不在刀剑的面前退缩。箭袋、闪烁的矛与枪，都在它的身上铮铮有声。它震抖激动，驰骋大地，一听见角声，就不能站定。角声一响，它就说‘呵哈’，它从远处闻到战争的气味，又听见军长的雷声和战争的吶喊。

野狗尚且用乳房哺养它们的幼儿；但我的众民变得多么残忍，像旷野的鸵鸟一样。婴儿的舌头因干渴而紧贴上膛；孩童求饼，却没有人分给他们。

因为他的马匹众多，它们扬起的尘土必遮盖你；他进入你的城门，好像人进入已有破口的城，那时，你的城墙必因骑兵、车轮和战车的响声而震动。他的马蹄必践踏你所有的街道；他必用刀杀戮你的人民；你坚固的柱子必倒在地上。

鞭声飕飕，轮声辚辚，骏马奔驰，战车颠簸跳动。骑兵腾跃冲锋；刀剑烁烁发亮，枪矛闪闪生光；被杀的人众多，死尸成堆；尸体无数，众人都被尸体绊倒。

你们中间温柔嫩弱的男人，必敌视自己的兄弟、怀中的妻子和余剩的儿女；甚至在你的仇敌围困和窘迫你在各城里的时候，他要吃自己儿女的肉，却不肯分给他们任何人，因为他没有什么剩下的。

马匹啊，上前吧！战车啊，狂奔吧！勇士啊，就是紧握盾牌的古实人和弗人，以及拉弓的吕底亚人哪，上阵吧！
