Then King Zedekiah sent for him and had him brought to the palace, where he asked him privately,“ Is there any word from the Lord?”“ Yes,” Jeremiah replied,“ you will be delivered into the hands of the king of Babylon.”

Then King Zedekiah sent for him. King Zedekiah had Jeremiah brought to the palace. There the king spoke to him in private. The king asked,“ Do you have a message from the Lord for me?”“ Yes,” Jeremiah replied.“ You will be handed over to the king of Babylon.”

King Zedekiah sent for him and received him. The king questioned him secretly in his house and said,“ Is there any word from the Lord?” Jeremiah said,“ There is.” Then he said,“ You shall be delivered into the hand of the king of Babylon.”

Later King Zedekiah secretly requested that Jeremiah come to the palace, where the king asked him,“ Do you have any messages from the Lord?”“ Yes, I do!” said Jeremiah.“ You will be defeated by the king of Babylon.”

King Zedekiah later sent for him and received him, and in his house privately asked him,“ Is there a word from the LORD?”“ There is,” Jeremiah responded. He continued,“ You will be handed over to the king of Babylon.”

Now King Zedekiah sent men and took him out; and in his palace the king secretly asked him and said,“ Is there a word from the Lord?” And Jeremiah said,“ There is!” Then he said,“ You will be handed over to the king of Babylon!”

then Zedekiah the king sent and took him out. The king asked him secretly in his house, and said,“ Is there any word from the Lord?” And Jeremiah said,“ There is.” Then he said,“ You shall be delivered into the hand of the king of Babylon!”

Then Zedekiah the king sent, and fetched him: and the king asked him secretly in his house, and said, Is there any word from Jehovah? And Jeremiah said, There is. He said also, Thou shalt be delivered into the hand of the king of Babylon.

King Zedekiah later sent for him and received him, and in his house privately asked him,“ Is there a word from the Lord?”“ There is,” Jeremiah responded, and he continued,“ You will be handed over to the king of Babylon.”

Then Zedekiah the king sent, and took him out: and the king asked him secretly in his house, and said, Is there[ any] word from the LORD? And Jeremiah said, There is: for, said he, thou shalt be delivered into the hand of the king of Babylon.

Then King Zedekiah had him brought to the palace. There he questioned him privately and asked him,“ Is there any message from the LORD?” Jeremiah answered,“ Yes, there is.” Then he announced,“ You will be handed over to the king of Babylon.”

then Zedekiah the king sent, and had him brought out. The king asked him secretly in his house,“ Is there any word from Yahweh?” Jeremiah said,“ There is.” He also said,“ You will be delivered into the hand of the king of Babylon.”

主曰、斯後我必以猶大王西底家、與其諸臣眾軍、及在斯邑中、遭瘟疫鋒刃饑饉、所遺之人、悉付於巴比倫王尼布甲尼撒之手、其敵之手、索其命者之手、巴比倫王必擊之以刃、不惜之、不憐憫、不矜恤、

王謂之曰、我豈不屢使爾發誓、爾奉主名告我、惟以真實而告乎、

西底家謂耶利米曰、勿使人知此言、則可不死、倘牧伯聞我與爾言、來問爾曰、爾奏王何言、爾其告我、勿隱於我、則我不殺爾、王所語爾者何言、可謂之曰、我求王勿使我歸約拿單之室、恐死於彼、諸牧伯至耶利米所、問之、耶利米遵王所囑之之言答之、事不洩漏、眾默然、不復詰之、

其中之君、必荷物於肩、昏暮而出、人將掘墻以導之出、彼必蒙面、致目不見地、我為彼張我網、使陷我罟、攜至迦勒底之巴比倫、然不得見其地、亦必死於彼、

西底家王遣瑪基亞子巴施戶珥、祭司瑪西雅子西番亞、見耶利米而謂之曰、今巴比倫王尼布甲尼撒攻我、爾為我禱主、或者主循昔所行之奇事待我、俾巴比倫王離我而返、

西底家王曰、斯人在爾手中、王毫不能禁爾、

當時耶羅波安子亞比雅遘病、耶羅波安謂妻曰、起而易服、使人不得知爾乃耶羅波安之妻、往示羅、在彼有先知亞希雅、彼曾告我、我必為斯民之王、可攜十餅、與數薄餅、及蜜一瓶、往見之、彼必告爾、我子將如何、耶羅波安妻如是而行、起往示羅、至亞希雅家、亞希雅年已老邁、目矇不能見、

西底家王遣人召先知耶利米、至主殿之第三門、王謂耶利米曰、我有一事問爾、毫勿隱於我、耶利米謂西底家曰、我告爾、爾必殺我、我為爾設謀、爾必不聽我、西底家王私誓謂耶利米曰、我指造我生命永生主而誓、必不殺爾、亦不付爾於索爾命者之手、

主如是云、惟猶大王西底家、與其牧伯、及耶路撒冷之遺民、尚遺於斯地者、及旅於伊及者、我必使若此劣甚不可食之劣無花果、

主曰、我必釋爾、我必釋爾又作我必使爾強健必使爾得福、在患難之時、在災害之日、必使敵人善待爾、

蓋耶利米曾述預言曰、主如是云、我將付此邑於巴比倫王手、使彼取之、猶大王西底家不能脫於迦勒底人手、必付於巴比倫王手、面審詰問、面審詰問原文作其口彼此對言其目彼此相視必將西底家擄至巴比倫、居彼待我眷顧之、爾曹雖與迦勒底人戰、必不獲勝、此乃主所言、猶大王西底家遂問耶利米曰、爾何為述若是之預言、於是囚之於獄、

今坐大衛位之王、與居斯邑之民、爾兄弟未曾與爾同被擄者、主有言論及之、萬有之主如是云、我必使鋒刃饑饉疫癘臨之、使之若惡劣不可食之無花果、必使鋒刃饑饉疫癘窘迫之、使天下萬邦、加之凌虐、使天下萬邦加之凌虐或作必使之在天下萬邦流離無所必使之在我所逐之之各邦受咒詛、令人驚駭、被譏笑、受羞辱、

主天主曰、我指己永生而誓、彼所輕之誓、即向我而發、所背之約、即與我而立、我必加報其身、身原文作首為之張網、使陷於我之羅、攜至巴比倫、在彼必罰之、必罰之或作必審鞫之因其獲罪於我、獲罪於我或作背叛我其軍中逃遁者必殞於鋒刃、所遺者必分散四方、爾曹則知我耶和華已言之矣、○

猶大王西底家、及其牧伯、我必付於敵人與索其命者之手、即巴比倫王軍旅之手、主曰、其軍雖離爾而去、我必命之復來此邑、攻而取之、焚之以火、我必使猶大諸邑荒蕪、無人居處、

約沙法曰、在此有主之先知否、如有、可藉之問主、以色列王之一臣對曰、昔事以利亞者、事以利亞者原文作傾水於以利亞之手者沙法子以利沙在此、約沙法曰、彼必奉有主命、於是以色列王與約沙法及以東王、俱往見之、以利沙謂以色列王曰、我與爾何與、可往問爾父之先知、及爾母之先知、以色列王曰、請勿如是言、主使我三王至此、欲付我於摩押人手、

蓋希律知約翰為人義且聖、故畏而護之、聞其言多所遵行、且喜聽其訓、

惟爾以色列之君、褻慢作惡、爾之罪愆貫盈、受報之日已至、主天主如是云、當除冠脫冕、不復存留、卑者必升為高、高者必降為卑、我必毀滅斯國、毀滅復毀滅、使歸於烏有、迨當得之者至、我則賜之、○
