為了避免這件事傳得更廣，我們必須警告他們以後不許再對任何人傳講耶穌的事。」於是，他們又把使徒傳來，嚴令他們不許再奉耶穌的名講論或傳道。但彼得和約翰答道：「要我們聽從你們而不聽從上帝，這在上帝看來合理嗎？你們自己想想吧。

你們憎恨在城門口主持公道的人，厭惡正直的人。

我們聽見他說那個拿撒勒人耶穌要毀壞聖殿，還要摒棄摩西傳給我們的規矩。」

耶穌在聖殿的庫房這樣教導人，但沒有人抓祂，因為祂的時候還沒有到。

耶和華說：「我要使耶路撒冷淪為廢墟，成為豺狼出沒之地；我要使猶大的城邑荒涼，不見人煙。」

一個名叫底米丟的銀匠以製造亞底米女神銀龕為業，使從事這門生意的工匠獲利豐厚。他召集了工匠和同行的人，說：「各位都知道我們靠這一行發財，可是你們都看到了，也聽見了，那個保羅在以弗所和亞細亞全境說服、誤導了許多人，說什麼人手所造的不是神。這樣下去，不但我們的行業會遭人貶抑，連亞底米女神廟也會被人輕看，甚至全亞細亞及普世尊崇的女神也會威嚴掃地！」眾人聽後，怒氣填胸，高聲喊叫：「以弗所人的亞底米女神真偉大！」全城陷入一片混亂。眾人抓住保羅的兩個同伴——馬其頓人該猶和亞里達古，拖著他們衝進戲院。保羅想進去，但門徒不許他去。他的好友——亞細亞的幾位官員也派人勸他別冒險進入戲院。這時，戲院裡面的人都在大喊大叫，混亂不堪。其實大部分人根本不知道自己為什麼聚在那裡。

於是，他們就拿起石頭要打祂，耶穌卻避開他們，離開了聖殿。

但祭司長卻煽動百姓，叫他們要求彼拉多釋放巴拉巴。

那些不信主的猶太人卻妒火中燒，他們召集了一群市井無賴，在城裡引發騷亂，闖進耶孫的家企圖把保羅和西拉揪出來示眾。他們找不到保羅和西拉，就把耶孫和幾個弟兄拉到當地官員面前，高喊：「那些攪亂天下的人到我們這裡來了，耶孫接待了他們。他們違抗凱撒的命令，說另有一個王叫耶穌。」百姓和當地官長聽後，深感不安。

她的主人們眼見財路斷絕了，就把保羅和西拉揪住，拖到廣場去見官長。他們在官長面前控告保羅和西拉，說：「這些是猶太人，竟擾亂我們的城市，宣揚我們羅馬人不可接受或實行的風俗。」於是，大家都一起攻擊他們，官長下令剝掉他們的衣服，杖打他們。

眾人一聽到這裡，就高喊：「從世上除掉這樣的人！他不配活著！」

「我們不是嚴禁你們奉耶穌的名去教導百姓嗎？你們竟然在耶路撒冷各處傳道，還想把殺那人的血債歸到我們身上！」

但猶太人煽動虔誠的貴婦和城中顯要迫害保羅和巴拿巴，將二人趕出城去。

耶穌進了聖殿，正在教導人的時候，祭司長和民間的長老來質問祂：「你憑什麼權柄做這些事？誰授權給你了？」

他們誣陷人，暗算審判官，冤枉無辜。

祭司長和長老卻慫恿百姓要求釋放巴拉巴，處死耶穌。

消息一傳開，全城轟動。眾人衝進聖殿把保羅拉出來，隨即關上殿門。

他們的先知說：「不要說預言了，不要預言這種事，我們不會蒙受羞辱。」

他們是悖逆的民族，是說謊的兒女，不肯聽從耶和華的教導。他們對先見說，『你們不要再看異象了。』又對先知說，『不要再教導我們是非對錯。給我們說些好聽的話，講些虛幻的事吧。讓開！不要擋我們的路！不要再給我們講以色列聖者的事。』

先知的話還沒有說完，王就打斷他，說：「住口！誰立你做王的謀士了？你要自取滅亡嗎？」先知停了一下，又說：「我知道上帝已定意要毀滅你，因為你做了這事，不聽我的忠告。」
