音麥的兒子巴施戶珥祭司在耶和華的殿中做總管。他聽見耶利米預言這些事，便下令毆打耶利米先知，把他囚禁在耶和華殿的便雅憫上門處。

我每次說預言，都大聲疾呼：「暴力和毀滅要來了！」我因傳講耶和華的話而終日遭受侮辱和譏笑。有時我打算不再提起耶和華，不再奉祂的名宣講，但祂的話如一團火在我心中燃燒，憋在我骨頭裡，我無法忍住不說。我聽見許多人竊竊私語：「看那個說『四面有恐怖』的人，我們告發他！告發他！」我的好友都盼著我滅亡，說：「或許他會受騙，那樣我們便能打倒他，一泄心頭之恨。」但耶和華與我同在，祂像勇猛的戰士。迫害我的人必一敗塗地，羞愧難當，留下永遠的恥辱。

但那些佃戶卻抓住他的奴僕，打傷一個，殺死一個，又用石頭打死了一個。於是，園主又派更多的奴僕去，結果也遭到同樣的對待。最後，園主派了自己的兒子去，心想，『他們肯定會尊重我的兒子。』然而，那些佃戶看見園主的兒子來了，就商量說，『這是園主的繼承人。來吧！我們殺掉他，佔了他的產業！』於是，他們抓住他，把他推出園外殺了。

那時，祭司長和民間的長老正聚集在大祭司該亞法的府裡，密謀逮捕、殺害耶穌。

我責打你們的兒女，卻是徒勞，因為他們不受管教。你們殺害你們的先知，殘暴如獅子。

他們聽了，怒氣衝天，打算殺掉使徒。

祭司長和全公會的人正在尋找假證據來控告耶穌，好定祂死罪。雖然有很多假證人誣告祂，但都找不到真憑實據。最後有兩個人上前高聲說：「這個人曾經說過，『我能拆毀聖殿，三天內把它重建起來。』」大祭司站起來質問耶穌：「你不回答嗎？這些人作證控告你的是什麼呢？」耶穌還是沉默不語。大祭司又對祂說：「我奉永活上帝的名命令你起誓告訴我們，你是不是上帝的兒子基督？」耶穌說：「如你所言。但我告訴你們，將來你們要看見人子坐在大能者的右邊，駕著天上的雲降臨。」大祭司撕裂衣服，說：「祂褻瀆了上帝！我們還需要什麼證人呢？你們現在親耳聽見了祂說褻瀆的話，你們看怎麼辦？」他們回應說：「祂該死！」

你的城牆內流滿了眾先知、眾聖徒和地上一切被殺之人的血。」

耶和華說：「如果你與步行的人競走，尚且感到疲乏，又怎能與馬賽跑呢？如果你在寬闊之地尚且跌倒，在約旦河邊的叢林中又會怎樣呢？你的弟兄和家人都背叛了你，與你作對。任他們甜言蜜語，你不要相信。

他們說：「來！我們設計對付耶利米吧，反正我們有祭司教導律法，有智者出謀劃策，有先知傳講預言。來吧！我們抨擊他，不要理會他的話。」

其餘的竟然抓住王的奴僕，把他們羞辱一番後殺了。

這樣，你們自己證明自己是殺害先知之人的後代。去填滿你們祖先的罪惡吧！你們這些蛇，這些毒蛇的後代啊，你們怎能逃脫地獄的刑罰呢？「看啊，我派先知、智者和律法教師到你們當中，有的會遭到你們的殺害，被你們釘在十字架上；有的會在會堂裡被你們鞭打，被你們從這城追到那城。因此，所有義人在地上所流的血，就是從義人亞伯的血，直到你們在聖所和祭壇之間所殺的巴拉加的兒子撒加利亞的血，都要歸到你們身上。

他們卻嘲弄耶和華上帝的使者，藐視祂的話，嘲笑祂的先知，以致祂的憤怒臨到祂的子民身上，無可挽救。

我好像一隻被牽去宰殺的馴良羊羔，不知他們要謀害我。他們說：「我們把這棵樹連果子一同毀滅，從世上除掉它，使它被遺忘吧！」然而，審判公正、洞察肺腑心腸的萬軍之耶和華啊，願我能看見你報應他們，因為我已向你陳明我的冤屈。亞拿突人想殺我，他們威脅我說：「你不要奉耶和華的名說預言，免得死在我們手上。」因此，萬軍之耶和華說：「看啊，我必懲罰他們。他們的青年必喪身刀下，他們的子女必死於饑荒，
