牧人啊，你们要哀号，呼叫！羊群的领袖啊，你们要在灰尘中打滚！因为你们被宰杀的日子已经到了；我要粉碎你们，你们要跌倒，像珍贵的器皿跌碎一样。

牧守群羊者、當號呼哭泣、坐於塗炭、蓋爾群離散、彼殺之日已屆、爾必喪亡、與珍器之毀、無以異也、

惟爾牧人當號咷、導群羊者當哀哭、輾轉於灰塵、因爾群被殺之時已至、見散之日已屆、爾必喪亡、與珍器之毀無以異、

“ Wail, shepherds, and cry! Roll about in the ashes, You leaders of the flock! For the days of your slaughter and your dispersions are fulfilled; You shall fall like a precious vessel.

Wail, ye shepherds, and cry; and wallow in ashes, ye principal of the flock; for the days of your slaughter and of your dispersions are fully come, and ye shall fall like a goodly vessel.

Daughter of my people, put on sackcloth And roll in ashes; Mourn as for an only son, A most bitter mourning. For suddenly the destroyer Will come against us.

He says,“ You are My war club, My weapon of war; And with you I shatter nations, And with you I destroy kingdoms.With you I shatter the horse and his rider, And with you I shatter the chariot and its rider,And with you I shatter man and woman, And with you I shatter the old man and youth, And with you I shatter the young man and virgin,And with you I shatter the shepherd and his flock, And with you I shatter the farmer and his team, And with you I shatter governors and officials.“ But I will repay Babylon and all the inhabitants of Chaldea for all their evil that they have done in Zion before your eyes,” declares the Lord.“ Behold, I am against you, mountain of destruction That destroys the whole earth,” declares the Lord,“ And I will stretch out My hand against you, And roll you down from the rocky cliffs, And I will make you a burnt out mountain.They will not take from you even a stone for a corner Nor a stone for foundations, But you will be desolate forever,” declares the Lord.

And they will make their voice heard over you And cry out bitterly. They will throw dust on their heads, They will wallow in ashes.Also they will shave themselves bald for you And put on sackcloth; And they will weep for you in bitterness of soul With bitter mourning.

For this, put on sackcloth, Mourn and wail; For the fierce anger of the Lord Has not turned away from us.”“ And it shall come about on that day,” declares the Lord,“ that the heart of the king and the hearts of the leaders will fail; and the priests will tremble, and the prophets will be astonished.”

Is this man Coniah a despised, shattered jar? Or is he an undesirable vessel? Why have he and his descendants been hurled out And cast into a land that they had not known?

Hear the sound of the cry of the shepherds, And the wailing of the masters of the flock! For the Lord is destroying their pasture,

You shall break them with a rod of iron, You shall shatter them like earthenware.’ ”

Therefore because you impose heavy rent on the poor And take a tribute of grain from them, Though you have built houses of cut stone, Yet you will not live in them; You have planted beautiful vineyards, yet you will not drink their wine.

Woe to you, destroyer, While you were not destroyed; And he who is treacherous, while others did not deal treacherously with him. As soon as you finish destroying, you will be destroyed; As soon as you cease to deal treacherously, others will deal treacherously with you.

“ Then you are to break the jar in the sight of the men who accompany you,and say to them,‘ This is what the Lord of armies says:“ To the same extent I will break this people and this city, just as one breaks a potter’s vessel, which cannot again be repaired; and they will bury their dead in Topheth, because there is no other place for burial.This is how I will treat this place and its inhabitants,” declares the Lord,“ so as to make this city like Topheth.

Come now, you rich people, weep and howl for your miseries which are coming upon you.Your riches have rotted and your garments have become moth eaten.

and to Dedan, Tema, Buz, and all who trim the corners of their hair;

The sword of the Lord is filled with blood, It drips with fat, with the blood of lambs and goats, With the fat of the kidneys of rams. For the Lord has a sacrifice in Bozrah, And a great slaughter in the land of Edom.
