Like a partridge that hatches eggs it did not lay are those who gain riches by unjust means. When their lives are half gone, their riches will desert them, and in the end they will prove to be fools.

人取利以增財、乃為恤貧者積蓄之、

忠誠者、其福充裕、急欲獲財者、不免受刑、

貪貨財者擾己家、惡賄賂者得生存、

惟上帝謂之曰、無知者乎、今夜將索爾靈、則所備者誰歸、

以詭詞得財、如追浮氣、適以取死、

惟爾心目、專務貪婪、流無辜之血、行強迫暴虐、

我於日下見有大患、乃人存積貨財、反自害也、猝遭禍患、貨財俱亡、如其生子、手無所有、其出母胎、裸體而來、亦必如是而逝、勞而得者、手無可攜、若何而來、亦若何而去、斯為大患、勞而捕風、有何益哉、

萬軍之耶和華云、當以公正行鞫、以仁慈矜憫相待、勿虐遇孤寡、賓旅貧乏、勿中心謀惡、以害昆弟、惟彼不從、而轉其肩、塞耳不聽、鐵石其心、不聽法律、與萬軍之耶和華以其神藉古先知所傳之言、緣此、萬軍之耶和華大發其怒、萬軍之耶和華曰、我呼之、而彼不聽、彼呼我、我亦不聽、

在牀謀惡營邪、迨至黎明、以手有力而行之者、其人禍哉、彼貪田畝而奪之、貪第宅而取之、且虐待其人與家、而據其業、

是日凡踰門閾、以強暴詭詐充其主人之室者、我必罰之、

其目充淫色、不已於罪、煽惑不堅之人、心習貪婪、是為受詛之子、

妄得之財必耗、勤勞所積必增、

維彼惡人、爾上帝必使之墜於陷阱、嗜殺與行詐者、生存不及半世、我則惟爾是恃兮、

以非義建第、以不公築室、役人而不給值、其人禍矣、

眈眈者急於獲財、不知窮乏之將至、

斯眾豈不以譬詞諷之、以隱語嘲之曰、禍哉其人、聚斂非己之財、擔負典質之重、伊於胡底、剝削爾者、豈不勃興乎、窘迫爾者、豈不亟起乎、爾必為其所虜之物、因爾刦掠多邦、流人之血、行強暴於其地其邑、及凡居於其中者、諸國之遺民、亦必刦掠爾、○獲不義之財、以富其家、營巢於高處、以避凶暴之手、其人禍哉、爾之所謀、翦滅多民、貽羞爾家、自取罪戾、壁中之石將呼、木中之梁將應、○以血建邑、以惡築城、其人禍哉、

萬軍之耶和華曰、我出此卷、使入盜賊之室、與指我名而妄誓者之室、恆處其中、而毀滅之、爰及木石、○

爾金銀銹矣、其銹將為證於爾、且如火而蝕爾肉、爾已積財於末日也、刈爾田之工值、爾以詭譎不給、有聲籲呼、且刈者之呼號、已入萬軍之主之耳矣、爾在世奢侈宴樂、饜爾心於宰割之日、

籠充以禽鳥、其室亦充以詭詐、因而昌盛富有、彼體肥膚潤、作惡太甚、不為孤子伸冤、使之利達、不為貧者折中、

受賄以流人血、貸金而取利息、行暴於鄰、得財無厭、而忘乎我、主耶和華言之矣、因爾所得非義之利、及爾中所流之血、我則擊掌、

爾逐我民婦、離其安宅、永奪我榮於其幼稚、

惡人之家、非尚有不義之財、與可憎之小量乎、我若有不公之衡、囊中有欺誑之石、豈得為潔乎、邑中富人、充於強暴、居民言誑、口舌詭譎、

斯人乃潛伏以流己血、隱伺以害己生、凡嗜利者、其道如是、貪得之欲、必隕其命、○

我必蒞臨、行鞫於爾、凡巫覡及淫亂妄誓、負傭值、欺孤寡、屈賓旅、而不畏我者、我必亟證之、萬軍之耶和華言之矣、

彼為迦南人、手執欺誑之衡、以勒索為悅、以法蓮自謂、我誠富有、已得貨財、凡我勞而獲者、人不得見我有不義、可視為罪、

厥手惟惡是營、而亟行之、牧伯徇情、士師貪賄、大人言其中心之惡欲、共同組織之、

耶和華曰、彼以殘暴刧奪、所得之物、藏於其第、不知行正、

豈可注目虛無、蓋貨財誠生羽翼、如鷹飛戾天、

爾之牧伯悖逆、黨於盜賊、好賄賂、索苞苴、不伸孤子之冤、不理嫠婦之訟、○緣此、萬軍之主耶和華、以色列之能者曰、噫嘻、我將洩忿於我仇、報復於我敵、

宜杜其口、彼為非義之利、教所不當教、傾覆人之家室、

禍哉、爾偽善之士子、與法利賽人乎、

彼由貪婪、將以飾言漁爾之利、自昔其鞫不遲、淪亡不寢、

爾欲吞噬窮乏、滅絕斯土之貧民者、其聽我言、爾曰、月朔何時過、俾我儕糶穀、安息何時過、俾我儕鬻麥、小其伊法、大其舍客勒、以欺誑之衡詐人、以銀購窮乏、以屨易貧民、以劣麥出售、

乏識之君、多行暴厲、貪欲是疾、必延年齡、

圖富有者、乃陷於誘惑機檻、及無知有害之諸慾、溺人於滅亡者也、
