那栽培你的、萬軍之永恆主、已經宣說要降災禍懲罰你，是因以色列家和猶大家的壞事，就是他們所愛行、來向巴力燻祭，以惹我發怒的。』

如今永恆主這麼說：看吧，我所建立的我必傾覆；我所栽植的我必拔除；拔除全轄地。

「這人民用嘴脣尊敬我，心卻遠離我；

他們來見你、如同人民之來；他們坐在你面前彷彿是我的人民；其實他們聽你的話，卻不去行；因為他們只是用口表示着愛，他們的心卻追求着不義之財。

他將以色列地的種子種在適於撒種的地裏，在多水之地旁邊，栽它如柳樹；好使它漸漸生長，成為下部發達、四面蔓延的葡萄樹，使它的枝條得以向着那鷹，而它的根仍在那鷹以下。這樣、它就成了葡萄樹，生起枝子，發出枝榦來。『另有一隻大鷹、翅膀大、羽毛多；這葡萄樹如饑似餓地向這鷹伸過根去，從栽種的苗床上向鷹發出枝條，好得牠的澆灌。這樹被移植到良田裏、多水之地旁邊，好生枝條，結果子，成為茁壯秀麗的葡萄樹。你要說：主永恆主這麼說：這葡萄樹哪能發旺呢？鷹難道不將它的根拔起，將它的枝子芟除，使發生的嫩葉都枯乾掉麼？這也不必用大力和許多人去從根那裏將它拔出呀。看哪，葡萄樹固然是被移植了，然而哪能發旺呢？東風一擊打它，它哪能不全然枯乾呢？它必定在它寄生的苗床上枯乾掉的。』

耶穌對他們說：『以賽亞指着你們假冒為善的人傳講神言，傳得不錯；照經上所記載的說：「這人民用嘴脣尊敬我，他們的心卻遠離我：

你母親好比葡萄樹，移植於水旁；因為水多，就多結果子，滿生枝條。它有剛勁的枝榦，可做掌權者之杖；其樹身高出於茂密樹枝中；因它枝條之繁多，以其高大、它還遠遠可見。但這葡萄樹因上帝的烈怒而被拔出，摔在地上；東風給吹乾了；其枝條折斷下來；它剛勁的枝榦枯乾了，火給燒燬了。如今被移植於曠野、乾旱焦渴之地。

雖有這一切事，奸詐的猶大還不一心轉回來歸於我，不過是假意而已：這是永恆主發神諭說的。』
