並不是說我們憑着自己能夠以甚麼事為出於自己。我們之所以能夠的、乃是出於上帝；

永恆主我的上帝啊，如今你使僕人接替我父親大衛作王，但我簡直是小孩，我不曉得怎樣出入。僕人住在你所揀選的人民中；這人民之多、實在多得不能統計，不能數點。求你賜給你僕人能聽案件的心，可以為你人民判斷，能夠辨別好壞；因為誰能為你這數量這麼重的人民判斷呢？』

你們中間若有欠缺智慧的，他應當從那大量賜予萬人而不斥責人的上帝求，就必有所賜給他的。

大衛知道掃羅設毒計要害他，就對祭司亞比亞他說：『將神諭像拿近前來。』大衛說：『永恆主以色列的上帝啊，你僕人確實聽見為了我的緣故掃羅要到基伊拉來毁壞這城。掃羅會不會照僕人所聽到的下來呢？永恆主以色列的上帝啊，求你告訴僕人。』永恆主說：『掃羅必下來。』大衛又說：『基伊拉公民會不會將我和跟從我的人送交掃羅手裏呢？』永恆主說：『會送交的。』

一切美好的施與和各樣完美的恩賞、都是從上頭、從眾光之父降下來的；在他並沒有變換或轉動之陰影。
