Your descendants would have been like the sand, your children like its numberless grains; their name would never be blotted out nor destroyed from before me.”

Your family would be like the sand. Your children after you would be as many as the grains of sand by the sea. It would be impossible to count them. I would always accept the members of your family line. They would never disappear or be destroyed.”

以色列啊，雖然你的子民多如海邊的沙粒，卻只有其中的餘剩者將回歸。滅絕已經註定，公義必如水漫溢，

我必定大大祝福你，使你的後裔大大增多，如同天上的星辰、海邊的沙粒；你的後裔必占有仇敵的城門。

願他的後代被剪除，他們的名號在下一代被抹掉。

我也要使你的後裔如同地上的塵沙那樣多——如果人能數算地上的塵沙，才能數算你的後裔。

此外我也得了瑪倫的妻子摩押女子路得作我的妻子，好使那死者在繼業上立名，以免那死者的名從他的兄弟中、從本地的城門口斷絕。今天你們都是見證人。」

耶和華宣告：「我所造的新天新地怎樣在我面前長存，你們的後裔和你們的名字也怎樣長存。」

以賽亞論到以色列人，呼喊說：「以色列子民的人數雖然多如海沙，將要得救的卻是剩餘的少數。

為我名的緣故，我忍住怒氣；為了我當受的讚美，我向你忍怒，不把你剪除。

「我必起來攻擊他們！」萬軍之耶和華如此宣告。「我必把巴比倫的名號、餘剩者、子孫後代都剪除！」耶和華如此宣告。

你斥責了列國，消滅了惡人，抹掉了他們的名號，直到永永遠遠。

所以耶和華必在一日之內，從以色列中剪除頭和尾，剪除棕枝和蘆葦——

我必在我的殿中牆內，賜給他們紀念柱和名號，比有兒女更好；我必賜給他們永不剪除的名號。
