The metalworker encourages the goldsmith, and the one who smooths with the hammer spurs on the one who strikes the anvil. One says of the welding,“ It is good.” The other nails down the idol so it will not topple.

One skilled worker makes a statue of a god. Another covers it with gold. The first worker says to the second,“ You have done a good job.” Another worker smooths out the metal with a hammer. Still another gives the statue its final shape. The one who hammers says to the one who shapes,“ You have done a good job.” Then they nail the statue down so it won’t fall over.

The craftsman strengthens the goldsmith, and he who smooths with the hammer him who strikes the anvil, saying of the soldering,“ It is good”; and they strengthen it with nails so that it cannot be moved.

The carver encourages the goldsmith, and the molder helps at the anvil.“ Good,” they say.“ It’s coming along fine.” Carefully they join the parts together, then fasten the thing in place so it won’t fall over.

至于偶像，是匠人铸造的，铸匠用金子把它包裹，用银子为它做银链。贫穷献不起这供物的，就拣选不朽坏的树木，为自己寻找巧匠，立起不会动摇的偶像。

从前去窥探那地的五个人上前，进入里面，把雕像、以弗得、神像和铸像都拿去了；祭司和带着兵器的六百人都站在门口。当那五个人进了米迦的家，拿走雕像、以弗得、神像和铸像的时候，祭司就问他们：“你们作什么呢？”

那些偶像镶有经过锤炼的银片，银子是从他施运来的，也有从乌法运来的金子，都是匠人和金匠手作的产品。它们穿着蓝色和紫色的衣服，全都是巧匠的作品。

因为万民所信奉的都是虚空，只是从林中砍下的树木，是匠人用凿刀制成的产品。他们用金银把它修饰，用钉子和锤子把它钉牢，使它不动摇。它们像瓜田里的稻草人，不能说话；它们必须要人抬着走，因为它们不能走路。你们不要害怕它们，因它们不能降祸，也不能降福。”

那些从钱袋倒出金子，用天平称银子的人，雇用金匠制造神像；他们向神像又俯伏又叩拜。他们把神像抬起来，扛在肩头上，然后把它安置在固定的地方，它就立在那里，总不离开它的本位。虽然有人向它呼求，它也不能回答；它也不能救人脱离患难。

米迦回答：“你们把我所做的神像和我的祭司都带走了，我还有什么呢？你们怎么还问我：‘你作什么’呢？”

铁匠先用工具在铁上雕刻，然后在火炭中加工，再用锤子把铁锤成形状，用他有力的膀臂锤成。他若饥饿，就没有力量；他若不喝水，就疲乏。木匠拉线，用笔画出轮廓，用刨子刨平，用圆规画出模样，做成人的形状，有人一般的美丽，好住在庙里。他为自己砍伐香柏树，或选取榆树和橡树，让它在树林中长起来；他栽种松树，让雨水使它长大。人可以用这树作燃料，可以拿来生火取暖，又可以烧着烤饼；人竟然用它做神像敬拜，他做了雕刻的偶像，又向它叩拜。

尼布甲尼撒王造了一座金像，高二十七公尺，宽三公尺，竖立在巴比伦省的杜拉平原上。尼布甲尼撒王派人召集总督、总监、省长、参谋、财政大臣、法官、裁判官和各省所有的官员，要他们参加尼布甲尼撒王为所立的像举行的揭幕典礼。于是总督、总监、省长、参谋、财政大臣、法官、裁判官和省内所有其他的官员，都聚集起来，参加尼布甲尼撒王为所立的像举行的揭幕典礼；他们都站在尼布甲尼撒所立的像前。那时，传令官大声呼叫说：“各国、各族、说各种语言的人哪！这是传给你们的命令：你们一听见角、笛、琵琶、弦琴、竖琴、风笛和各种乐器的声音，就要俯伏，向尼布甲尼撒王所立的金像下拜。凡不俯伏下拜的，就必立刻扔在烈火的窑中。”因此，各国、各族和说各种语言的人，一听见角、笛、琵琶、弦琴、竖琴和各种乐器的声音，就都俯伏，向尼布甲尼撒王所立的金像下拜。
