For the grave cannot praise you, death cannot sing your praise; those who go down to the pit cannot hope for your faithfulness.

People in the grave can’t praise you. Dead people can’t sing praise to you. Those who go down to the grave can’t hope for you to be faithful to them.

For Sheol does not thank you; death does not praise you; those who go down to the pit do not hope for your faithfulness.

For the dead cannot praise you; they cannot raise their voices in praise. Those who go down to the grave can no longer hope in your faithfulness.

暨凡所有、俱生陷於坎阱、為地所覆、絕於會中、

惡人行橫逆而見驅、義者雖死亡而有望。

此人入永刑、義者入永生、

不第此也、爾我間、限以巨淵、欲由此涉爾不能、由彼濟我亦不能、曰、若是、求祖遣拉撒路、往我父家、我有兄弟五人、使彼示之、免至此受苦、亞伯拉罕曰、彼有摩西及先知、可聽之、對曰、不然、祖亞伯拉罕乎、若有人死而復生以就之、彼必悔改、曰、不聽摩西及先知、即有死而復生者、其亦不受勸也、

而國之赤子、則逐於絕域幽暗、在彼有哀哭切齒者矣、

死者歸墓、入於何無何有之鄉、不能頌揚耶和華兮、惟予頌美之、永世靡暨、爾曹咸當頌讚耶和華兮。

人已沒世、豈可施能而救之兮、幽冥之眾、誰克起而頌美兮、入於陵墓者、詎得沾爾恩膏兮、陷於陰府者、豈能彰爾真實兮、
