For the grave cannot praise you, death cannot sing your praise; those who go down to the pit cannot hope for your faithfulness.

People in the grave can’t praise you. Dead people can’t sing praise to you. Those who go down to the grave can’t hope for you to be faithful to them.

For Sheol does not thank you; death does not praise you; those who go down to the pit do not hope for your faithfulness.

For the dead cannot praise you; they cannot raise their voices in praise. Those who go down to the grave can no longer hope in your faithfulness.

For Sheol cannot thank you; Death cannot praise you. Those who go down to the Pit cannot hope for your faithfulness.

爾手可為者、當盡力為之、緣爾將至之陰府、無工作、無籌畫、無知識、無智慧、○

死亡中無記憶爾、陰府中誰稱謝爾、

流我之血、使我就墓、何益之有、塵土安能頌爾、安能宣爾誠實兮、

彼暨所有、悉生墮於陰府、地復合之、致彼絕於會中、

惡人遇難而見仆、義者臨死而有託、

若人入永刑、惟義者入永生、

不第此也、爾我間限以巨淵、欲由此赴爾不能也、由彼過我、亦不能也、曰、若是、求祖遣拉撒路往我父家、我有兄弟五人、使彼證之、免其亦來此痛苦之處也、亞伯拉罕曰、彼有摩西及諸先知、可聽之也、對曰、祖亞伯拉罕乎、非也、若有由死而就之者、彼必改悔矣、曰、不聽摩西與先知、即有自死而起者、彼亦不受勸也、

而其國子民、必見逐於幽暗、在彼有哀哭切齒矣、

死人及下入幽寂者、不頌美耶和華兮、惟我必稱頌耶和華、自今迄於永久、爾其頌美耶和華兮、

爾豈於死者顯奇行、幽魂詎起而讚爾乎、爾之慈惠豈宣於幕中、爾之信實、豈傳於死域乎、
