Surely it was for my benefit that I suffered such anguish. In your love you kept me from the pit of destruction; you have put all my sins behind your back.

I’m sure it was for my benefit that I suffered such great pain. You love me. You kept me from going down into the pit of death. You have put all my sins behind your back.

Behold, it was for my welfare that I had great bitterness; but in love you have delivered my life from the pit of destruction, for you have cast all my sins behind your back.

Yes, this anguish was good for me, for you have rescued me from death and forgiven all my sins.

“ I am the one, I sweep away your transgressions for my own sake and remember your sins no more.

No longer will one teach his neighbor or his brother, saying,‘ Know the LORD,’ for they will all know me, from the least to the greatest of them”— this is the LORD’s declaration.“ For I will forgive their iniquity and never again remember their sin.

LORD, you brought me up from Sheol; you spared me from among those going down to the Pit.

Who is a God like you, forgiving iniquity and passing over rebellion for the remnant of his inheritance? He does not hold on to his anger forever because he delights in faithful love.He will again have compassion on us; he will vanquish our iniquities. You will cast all our sins into the depths of the sea.

I sank to the foundations of the mountains, the earth’s gates shut behind me forever! Then you raised my life from the Pit, LORD my God!

For your faithful love for me is great, and you rescue my life from the depths of Sheol.

You forgave your people’s guilt; you covered all their sin. Selah

I am counted among those going down to the Pit. I am like a man without strength,abandoned among the dead. I am like the slain lying in the grave, whom you no longer remember, and who are cut off from your care.You have put me in the lowest part of the Pit, in the darkest places, in the depths.

He brought me up from a desolate pit, out of the muddy clay, and set my feet on a rock, making my steps secure.

When I was secure, I said,“ I will never be shaken.”LORD, when you showed your favor, you made me stand like a strong mountain; when you hid your face, I was terrified.

So I thought,“ I will die in my own nest and multiply my days as the sand.

In arrogance the wicked relentlessly pursue their victims; let them be caught in the schemes they have devised.

For the thing I feared has overtaken me, and what I dreaded has happened to me.I cannot relax or be calm; I have no rest, for turmoil has come.
