Egypt’s help is completely worthless; therefore, I call her: Rahab Who Just Sits.

to Egypt, whose help is utterly useless. Therefore I call her Rahab the Do-Nothing.

They travel to Egypt, whose help is totally useless. That’s why I call it Rahab the Do- Nothing.

Egypt’s help is worthless and empty; therefore I have called her“ Rahab who sits still.”

Egypt’s promises are worthless! Therefore, I call her Rahab— the Harmless Dragon.

Even Egypt, whose help is vain and empty. Therefore, I have called her“ Rahab who has been exterminated.”

For the Egyptians shall help in vain and to no purpose. Therefore I have called her Rahab-Hem-Shebeth.

For Egypt helpeth in vain, and to no purpose: therefore have I called her Rahab that sitteth still.

Put no more trust in a mere human, who has only the breath in his nostrils. What is he really worth?

Wake up, wake up! Arm of the LORD, clothe yourself with strength. Wake up as in days past, as in generations long ago. Wasn’t it you who hacked Rahab to pieces, who pierced the sea monster?

Woe to those who go down to Egypt for help and who depend on horses! They trust in the abundance of chariots and in the large number of horsemen. They do not look to the Holy One of Israel, and they do not seek the LORD.But he also is wise and brings disaster. He does not go back on what he says; he will rise up against the house of the wicked and against the allies of evildoers.Egyptians are men, not God; their horses are flesh, not spirit. When the LORD raises his hand to strike, the helper will stumble and the one who is helped will fall; both will perish together.For this is what the LORD said to me: As a lion or young lion growls over its prey when a band of shepherds is called out against it, and it is not terrified by their shouting or subdued by their noise, so the LORD of Armies will come down to fight on Mount Zion and on its hill.Like hovering birds, so the LORD of Armies will protect Jerusalem; by protecting it, he will rescue it; by passing over it, he will deliver it.

He had said to them,“ This is the place of rest; let the weary rest; this is the place of repose.” But they would not listen.

It is good to wait quietly for salvation from the LORD.

“ This is what the LORD, the God of Israel, says: This is what you will say to Judah’s king, who is sending you to inquire of me:‘ Watch: Pharaoh’s army, which has come out to help you, is going to return to its own land of Egypt.

From heaven you pronounced judgment. The earth feared and grew quietwhen God rose up to judge and to save all the lowly of the earth. Selah

But Moses said to the people,“ Don’t be afraid. Stand firm and see the LORD’s salvation that he will accomplish for you today; for the Egyptians you see today, you will never see again.

Say to him: Calm down and be quiet. Don’t be afraid or cowardly because of these two smoldering sticks, the fierce anger of Rezin and Aram, and the son of Remaliah.

When Ephraim saw his sickness and Judah his wound, Ephraim went to Assyria and sent a delegation to the great king. But he cannot cure you or heal your wound.

It is better to take refuge in the LORD than to trust in humanity.It is better to take refuge in the LORD than to trust in nobles.

For the Lord GOD, the Holy One of Israel, has said:“ You will be delivered by returning and resting; your strength will lie in quiet confidence. But you are not willing.”
