他们摆设筵席，铺张地毡，又吃又喝。领袖们，起来吧！用油抹净盾牌。

筵席已摆设，地毯已铺上，人们又吃又喝——首领们哪，起来！用油擦抹盾牌！

They set the tables, they spread the rugs, they eat, they drink! Get up, you officers, oil the shields!

他们火热的时候，我必为他们设摆酒席，使他们沉醉，好叫他们快乐，睡了长觉，永不醒起。这是耶和华说的。

君王，名为万军之耶和华的说：“我必使巴比伦的首领、智慧人、省长、副省长，和勇士都沉醉，使他们睡了长觉，永不醒起。

我若当日像寻常人，在以弗所同野兽战斗，那于我有什么益处呢？若死人不复活，我们就吃吃喝喝吧！因为明天要死了。

你们要磨尖了箭头，抓住盾牌。耶和华定意攻击巴比伦，将他毁灭，所以激动了玛代君王的心；因这是耶和华报仇，就是为自己的殿报仇。

伯沙撒王为他的一千大臣设摆盛筵，与这一千人对面饮酒。伯沙撒欢饮之间，吩咐人将他父尼布甲尼撒从耶路撒冷殿中所掠的金银器皿拿来，王与大臣、皇后、妃嫔好用这器皿饮酒。于是他们把耶路撒冷神殿库房中所掠的金器皿拿来，王和大臣、皇后、妃嫔就用这器皿饮酒。他们饮酒，赞美金、银、铜、铁、木、石所造的神。当时，忽有人的指头显出，在王宫与灯台相对的粉墙上写字。王看见写字的指头

应当在净光的山竖立大旗，向群众扬声招手，使他们进入贵胄的门。

我耶和华所膏的居鲁士；我搀扶他的右手，使列国降伏在他面前。我也要放松列王的腰带，使城门在他面前敞开，不得关闭。我对他如此说：“我必在你前面行，修平崎岖之地。我必打破铜门，砍断铁闩。我要将暗中的宝物和隐密的财宝赐给你，使你知道提名召你的，就是我耶和华以色列的神。

要在境内竖立大旗，在各国中吹角，使列国预备攻击巴比伦，将亚拉腊、米尼、亚实基拿各国招来攻击他；又派军长来攻击他，使马匹上来如蚂蚱，使列国和玛代君王，与省长和副省长，并他们所管全地之人，都预备攻击他。

谁知，人倒欢喜快乐，宰牛杀羊，吃肉喝酒，说：“我们吃喝吧！因为明天要死了。”万军之耶和华亲自默示我说：“这罪孽直到你们死，断不得赦免！这是主万军之耶和华说的。”

我必激动玛代人来攻击他们。玛代人不注重银子，也不喜爱金子。他们必用弓击碎少年人，不怜悯妇人所生的，眼也不顾惜孩子。
