Now consider how great this man was, to whom even Abraham, the patriarch, gave a tenth out of the best plunder.

試思先祖亞伯拉罕、以所獲之極品什一贈之、其人之尊為何如耶、

爾試思之、先祖亞伯拉罕、取戰時所獲者十分之一、輸麥基洗德、則其尊為何若、

爾試思之、祖亞伯拉罕、以所獲者什取一以供之、則其人之尊貴何如、

爾等盍一思之、我先祖亞伯漢、且以其戰利珍品什一以貢焉、則麥基德之尊貴為何如乎？

Just think how great he was: Even the patriarch Abraham gave him a tenth of the plunder!

Think how great Melchizedek was! Even our father Abraham gave him a tenth of what he had captured.

See how great this man was to whom Abraham the patriarch gave a tenth of the spoils!

Consider then how great this Melchizedek was. Even Abraham, the great patriarch of Israel, recognized this by giving him a tenth of what he had taken in battle.

Now consider how great this man was: even Abraham the patriarch gave a tenth of the plunder to him.

Now observe how great this man was to whom Abraham, the patriarch, gave a tenth of the choicest spoils.

Now consider how great this man was, to whom even the patriarch Abraham gave a tenth of the spoils.

Now consider how great this man was, unto whom Abraham, the patriarch, gave a tenth out of the chief spoils.

Now consider how great this man was— even Abraham the patriarch gave a tenth of the plunder to him!

Now consider how great this man[ was], unto whom even the patriarch Abraham gave the tenth of the spoils.

But see how great he must be, if Abraham the patriarch gave him a tithe of his plunder.

“ Brothers, I may tell you freely of the patriarch David, that he both died and was buried, and his tomb is with us to this day.

Blessed be God Most High, who has delivered your enemies into your hand.” Abram gave him a tenth of all.

He gave him the covenant of circumcision. So Abraham became the father of Isaac, and circumcised him the eighth day. Isaac became the father of Jacob, and Jacob became the father of the twelve patriarchs.“ The patriarchs, moved with jealousy against Joseph, sold him into Egypt. God was with him,

There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free man, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus.If you are Christ’s, then you are Abraham’s offspring and heirs according to promise.

I will make of you a great nation. I will bless you and make your name great. You will be a blessing.

As it is written,“ I have made you a father of many nations.” This is in the presence of him whom he believed: God, who gives life to the dead, and calls the things that are not, as though they were.Besides hope, Abraham in hope believed, to the end that he might become a father of many nations, according to that which had been spoken,“ So will your offspring be.”

So the Scripture was fulfilled which says,“ Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him as righteousness,” and he was called the friend of God.

He received the sign of circumcision, a seal of the righteousness of the faith which he had while he was in uncircumcision, that he might be the father of all those who believe, though they might be in uncircumcision, that righteousness might also be accounted to them.He is the father of circumcision to those who not only are of the circumcision, but who also walk in the steps of that faith of our father Abraham, which he had in uncircumcision.For the promise to Abraham and to his offspring that he should be heir of the world wasn’t through the law, but through the righteousness of faith.

Your name will no more be called Abram, but your name will be Abraham; for I have made you the father of a multitude of nations.I will make you exceedingly fruitful, and I will make nations of you. Kings will come out of you.
