They indeed of the sons of Levi who receive the priest’s office have a commandment to take tithes of the people according to the law, that is, of their brothers, though these have come out of the body of Abraham,

夫利未子孫受祭司職者、亦奉命依律取什一於民、即出於亞伯拉罕膝下、為其兄弟者、

利未子孫、有任祭司職者、奉命依例、什一取兄弟所有之物、其兄弟即亞伯拉罕後裔、

利未子孫之得祭司職者、雖與民皆為亞伯拉罕之裔、同為兄弟、仍奉律法之命、以民之物、什取其一、

利未子孫之任司祭者、依例什一以取於兄弟；其兄弟乃亞伯漢之後裔耳。

Now the law requires the descendants of Levi who become priests to collect a tenth from the people— that is, from their fellow Israelites— even though they also are descended from Abraham.

Now the law lays down a rule for the sons of Levi who become priests. They must collect a tenth from the people. They must collect it from the other Israelites. They must do this, even though all of them belong to the family line of Abraham.

And those descendants of Levi who receive the priestly office have a commandment in the law to take tithes from the people, that is, from their brothers, though these also are descended from Abraham.

Now the law of Moses required that the priests, who are descendants of Levi, must collect a tithe from the rest of the people of Israel, who are also descendants of Abraham.

The sons of Levi who receive the priestly office have a command according to the law to collect a tenth from the people— that is, from their brothers and sisters— though they have also descended from Abraham.

And those indeed of the sons of Levi who receive the priest’s office have a commandment in the Law to collect a tenth from the people, that is, from their countrymen, although they are descended from Abraham.

And indeed those who are of the sons of Levi, who receive the priesthood, have a commandment to receive tithes from the people according to the law, that is, from their brethren, though they have come from the loins of Abraham;

And they indeed of the sons of Levi that receive the priest’s office have commandment to take tithes of the people according to the law, that is, of their brethren, though these have come out of the loins of Abraham:

The sons of Levi who receive the priestly office have a command according to the law to collect a tenth from the people— that is, from their brothers— though they have also descended from Abraham.

And verily they that are of the sons of Levi, who receive the office of the priesthood, have a commandment to take tithes of the people according to the law, that is, of their brethren, though they come out of the loins of Abraham:

And those of the sons of Levi who receive the priestly office have authorization according to the law to collect a tithe from the people, that is, from their fellow countrymen, although they too are descendants of Abraham.

Nevertheless, you shall not build the house; but your son who shall come out of your body, he shall build the house for my name.’

“ Bring Aaron your brother, and his sons with him, near to you from among the children of Israel, that he may minister to me in the priest’s office: Aaron, Nadab and Abihu, Eleazar and Ithamar, Aaron’s sons.

for he was yet in the body of his father when Melchizedek met him.

I perceived that the portions of the Levites had not been given them; so that the Levites and the singers, who did the work, had each fled to his field.

Nobody takes this honor on himself, but he is called by God, just like Aaron was.

All the souls who came out of Jacob’s body were seventy souls, and Joseph was in Egypt already.

and that he has brought you near, and all your brothers the sons of Levi with you? Do you seek the priesthood also?Therefore you and all your company have gathered together against Yahweh! What is Aaron that you complain against him?”

God said to him,“ I am God Almighty. Be fruitful and multiply. A nation and a company of nations will be from you, and kings will come out of your body.

You and your sons with you shall keep your priesthood for everything of the altar, and for that within the veil. You shall serve. I give you the service of the priesthood as a gift. The stranger who comes near shall be put to death.”

Moreover he commanded the people who lived in Jerusalem to give the portion of the priests and the Levites, that they might give themselves to Yahweh’s law.As soon as the commandment went out, the children of Israel gave in abundance the first fruits of grain, new wine, oil, honey, and of all the increase of the field; and they brought in the tithe of all things abundantly.The children of Israel and Judah, who lived in the cities of Judah, also brought in the tithe of cattle and sheep, and the tithe of dedicated things which were consecrated to Yahweh their God, and laid them in heaps.

“‘ All the tithe of the land, whether of the seed of the land or of the fruit of the trees, is Yahweh’s. It is holy to Yahweh.If a man redeems anything of his tithe, he shall add a fifth part to it.All the tithe of the herds or the flocks, whatever passes under the rod, the tenth shall be holy to Yahweh.He shall not examine whether it is good or bad, neither shall he exchange it. If he exchanges it at all, then both it and that for which it is exchanged shall be holy. It shall not be redeemed.’”

“ To the children of Levi, behold, I have given all the tithe in Israel for an inheritance, in return for their service which they serve, even the service of the Tent of Meeting.Henceforth the children of Israel shall not come near the Tent of Meeting, lest they bear sin, and die.But the Levites shall do the service of the Tent of Meeting, and they shall bear their iniquity. It shall be a statute forever throughout your generations. Among the children of Israel, they shall have no inheritance.For the tithe of the children of Israel, which they offer as a wave offering to Yahweh, I have given to the Levites for an inheritance. Therefore I have said to them,‘ Among the children of Israel they shall have no inheritance.’”Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying,“ Moreover you shall speak to the Levites, and tell them,‘ When you take of the children of Israel the tithe which I have given you from them for your inheritance, then you shall offer up a wave offering of it for Yahweh, a tithe of the tithe.Your wave offering shall be credited to you, as though it were the grain of the threshing floor, and as the fullness of the wine press.Thus you also shall offer a wave offering to Yahweh of all your tithes, which you receive of the children of Israel; and of it you shall give Yahweh’s wave offering to Aaron the priest.Out of all your gifts, you shall offer every wave offering to Yahweh, of all its best parts, even the holy part of it.’“ Therefore you shall tell them,‘ When you heave its best from it, then it shall be credited to the Levites as the increase of the threshing floor, and as the increase of the wine press.You may eat it anywhere, you and your households, for it is your reward in return for your service in the Tent of Meeting.You shall bear no sin by reason of it, when you have heaved from it its best. You shall not profane the holy things of the children of Israel, that you not die.’”

All the souls who came with Jacob into Egypt, who were his direct offspring, in addition to Jacob’s sons’ wives, all the souls were sixty- six.

You shall write Aaron’s name on Levi’s rod. There shall be one rod for each head of their fathers’ houses.You shall lay them up in the Tent of Meeting before the covenant, where I meet with you.It shall happen that the rod of the man whom I shall choose shall bud. I will make the murmurings of the children of Israel, which they murmur against you, cease from me.”Moses spoke to the children of Israel; and all their princes gave him rods, for each prince one, according to their fathers’ houses, a total of twelve rods. Aaron’s rod was among their rods.Moses laid up the rods before Yahweh in the Tent of the Testimony.On the next day, Moses went into the Tent of the Testimony; and behold, Aaron’s rod for the house of Levi had sprouted, budded, produced blossoms, and bore ripe almonds.Moses brought out all the rods from before Yahweh to all the children of Israel. They looked, and each man took his rod.Yahweh said to Moses,“ Put back the rod of Aaron before the covenant, to be kept for a token against the children of rebellion; that you may make an end of their complaining against me, that they not die.”
