For it is clear that our Lord descended from Judah, and in regard to that tribe Moses said nothing about priests.

It is clear that our Lord came from the family line of Judah. Moses said nothing about priests who were from the tribe of Judah.

Judah begot Perez and Zerah by Tamar, Perez begot Hezron, and Hezron begot Ram.Ram begot Amminadab, Amminadab begot Nahshon, and Nahshon begot Salmon.Salmon begot Boaz by Rahab, Boaz begot Obed by Ruth, Obed begot Jesse,and Jesse begot David the king. David the king begot Solomon by her who had been the wife of Uriah.Solomon begot Rehoboam, Rehoboam begot Abijah, and Abijah begot Asa.Asa begot Jehoshaphat, Jehoshaphat begot Joram, and Joram begot Uzziah.Uzziah begot Jotham, Jotham begot Ahaz, and Ahaz begot Hezekiah.Hezekiah begot Manasseh, Manasseh begot Amon, and Amon begot Josiah.Josiah begot Jeconiah and his brothers about the time they were carried away to Babylon.And after they were brought to Babylon, Jeconiah begot Shealtiel, and Shealtiel begot Zerubbabel.Zerubbabel begot Abiud, Abiud begot Eliakim, and Eliakim begot Azor.Azor begot Zadok, Zadok begot Achim, and Achim begot Eliud.Eliud begot Eleazar, Eleazar begot Matthan, and Matthan begot Jacob.And Jacob begot Joseph the husband of Mary, of whom was born Jesus who is called Christ.

“ I, Jesus, have sent My angel to testify to you these things in the churches. I am the Root and the Offspring of David, the Bright and Morning Star.”

And do you think this, O man, you who judge those practicing such things, and doing the same, that you will escape the judgment of God?

“ I see Him, but not now; I behold Him, but not near; A Star shall come out of Jacob; A Scepter shall rise out of Israel, And batter the brow of Moab, And destroy all the sons of tumult.

But why is this granted to me, that the mother of my Lord should come to me?

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ,

And when the parents brought in the Child Jesus, to do for Him according to the custom of the law,he took Him up in his arms and blessed God and said:“ Lord, now You are letting Your servant depart in peace, According to Your word;For my eyes have seen Your salvationWhich You have prepared before the face of all peoples,A light to bring revelation to the Gentiles, And the glory of Your people Israel.”And Joseph and His mother marveled at those things which were spoken of Him.

“ Behold, the days are coming,” says the Lord,“ That I will raise to David a Branch of righteousness; A King shall reign and prosper, And execute judgment and righteousness in the earth.In His days Judah will be saved, And Israel will dwell safely; Now this is His name by which He will be called: THE LORD OUR RIGHTEOUSNESS.

The sons of Judah were Er, Onan, Shelah, Perez, and Zerah( but Er and Onan died in the land of Canaan). The sons of Perez were Hezron and Hamul.
