Jesus also suffered outside the city gate. He suffered to make the people holy by spilling his own blood.

Both the one who makes people holy and those who are made holy are of the same family. So Jesus is not ashamed to call them brothers and sisters.

And when they had mocked him, they took off the purple robe and put his own clothes on him. Then they led him out to crucify him.A certain man from Cyrene, Simon, the father of Alexander and Rufus, was passing by on his way in from the country, and they forced him to carry the cross.They brought Jesus to the place called Golgotha( which means“ the place of the skull”).Then they offered him wine mixed with myrrh, but he did not take it.And they crucified him. Dividing up his clothes, they cast lots to see what each would get.

So the assembly took him outside the camp and stoned him to death, as the Lord commanded Moses.

Carrying his own cross, he went out to the place of the Skull( which in Aramaic is called Golgotha).There they crucified him, and with him two others— one on each side and Jesus in the middle.

And that is what some of you were. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.

Then Moses spoke to the Israelites, and they took the blasphemer outside the camp and stoned him. The Israelites did as the Lord commanded Moses.

Then Joshua, together with all Israel, took Achan son of Zerah, the silver, the robe, the gold bar, his sons and daughters, his cattle, donkeys and sheep, his tent and all that he had, to the Valley of Achor.

How much more severely do you think someone deserves to be punished who has trampled the Son of God underfoot, who has treated as an unholy thing the blood of the covenant that sanctified them, and who has insulted the Spirit of grace?

For them I sanctify myself, that they too may be truly sanctified.
