By faith Abel brought God a better offering than Cain did. By faith he was commended as righteous, when God spoke well of his offerings. And by faith Abel still speaks, even though he is dead.

Abel had faith. So he brought to God a better offering than Cain did. Because of his faith Abel was praised as a godly man. God said good things about his offerings. Because of his faith Abel still speaks. He speaks even though he is dead.

By faith Abel offered to God a more acceptable sacrifice than Cain, through which he was commended as righteous, God commending him by accepting his gifts. And through his faith, though he died, he still speaks.

It was by faith that Abel brought a more acceptable offering to God than Cain did. Abel’s offering gave evidence that he was a righteous man, and God showed his approval of his gifts. Although Abel is long dead, he still speaks to us by his example of faith.

過了一些日子，該隱拿地裏的出產為供物獻給耶和華；亞伯也把他羊羣中頭生的和羊的脂肪獻上。耶和華看中了亞伯和他的供物，卻看不中該隱和他的供物。該隱就非常生氣，沉下臉來。

如此，地上所有義人流的血都歸到你們身上，從義人亞伯的血起，直到你們在聖所和祭壇中間所殺的巴拉加的兒子撒迦利亞的血為止。

我們要彼此相愛。這就是你們從起初所聽到的信息。不要像該隱；他是屬那邪惡者，殺了自己的弟弟。為甚麼殺了他呢？因為自己的行為是邪惡的，而弟弟的行為是正直的。

耶和華說：「你做了甚麼事呢？你弟弟血的聲音從地裏向我哀號。

並新約的中保耶穌，以及所灑的血；這血所說的信息比亞伯的血所說的更美。

惡人獻祭，為耶和華所憎惡；正直人祈禱，為他所喜悅。

他們有禍了！因為他們走該隱的道路，又為財利往巴蘭的錯謬裏直奔，並在可拉的背叛中滅亡了。

惡人獻的祭是可憎的，何況他存惡意來獻呢？

該隱與他弟弟亞伯說話。二人正在田間時，該隱起來攻擊他弟弟亞伯，把他殺了。

就是從亞伯的血起，直到被殺在祭壇和聖所中間的撒迦利亞的血為止。是的，我告訴你們，這都要向這世代的人追討。

有火從耶和華面前出來，焚燒了壇上的燔祭和脂肪；全體百姓一看見，就都歡呼，臉伏於地。

按着律法，幾乎每樣東西都是用血潔淨的；沒有流血，就沒有赦罪。

耶和華對他說：「既然如此，凡殺該隱的，必遭報七倍。」耶和華就給該隱立一個記號，免得人遇見他就殺他。

亞當又與妻子同房，她就生了一個兒子，給他起名叫塞特，說：「神給我立了另一個子嗣代替亞伯，因為該隱殺了他。」

所以，既然我們有這許多見證人如同雲彩圍繞着我們，就該卸下各樣重擔和緊緊纏累的罪，以堅忍的心奔那擺在我們前頭的路程，

於是，耶和華降下火來，燒盡燔祭、木柴、石頭、塵土，又燒乾了溝裏的水。

他們宣稱認識神，卻在行為上否認他；他們是可憎惡的，是悖逆的，不配做任何好事。
