亞略就急忙把但以理帶到王面前，對王這樣說：“我在被擄的猶大人中找到一個能把夢的意思向王說明的人。”

他從灰塵中抬舉貧寒人，從糞堆中提拔窮乏人，使他們和權貴同坐，就是和他子民中的權貴同坐，

並且安慰他，使他的地位高過和他一起在巴比倫的眾王。又換下他的囚衣，賜他終生常在王面前吃飯。

第三天，以斯帖穿上朝服，站在王宮的內院，對著王殿；王在殿裡坐在王位上，對著殿門。

掃羅的孫子米非波設也下去迎接王。他自從王出走那天，直到王平平安安回來的日子，都沒有修腳，沒有刮鬍子，也沒有洗衣服。

末底改知道了發生的一切事，就撕裂自己的衣服，披上麻衣，撒上灰塵，出到城中，大聲痛哭地呼叫。他到了御門前，就停住，因為身穿麻衣的，不可以進御門。王的諭旨和命令傳到的各省各地，猶大人都大大悲哀，禁食、哭泣、悲傷；許多人披上麻衣，躺在灰塵中。以斯帖的婢女和太監把這事告訴以斯帖，王后就非常驚慌，就派人送衣服給末底改穿著，要他脫下麻衣，他卻不接受。

於是，法老急忙把摩西和亞倫召了來，說：“我得罪了耶和華你們的神，也得罪了你們。

我因耶和華大大歡喜，我的心靠著我的神快樂，因為他給我穿上救恩的衣服，給我披上公義的外袍，好像新郎戴上華冠，又像新娘佩戴裝飾。
