当时以弗仑正坐在赫人当中，于是他在城门口赫人聚集的地方当众答复亚伯拉罕说：

“不要把圣物给狗，免得狗转过头来咬你们，也不要把珍珠丢在猪前，免得猪践踏了珍珠。

因为徒具外表的犹太人不是真正的犹太人，身体上的割礼也不是真正的割礼。唯有从心里做犹太人的才是真犹太人，真割礼是借着圣灵在心里受的割礼，不在于律法条文。这样的人得到的称赞不是从人来的，而是从上帝来的。

亚伯拉罕就在那天照着上帝的吩咐，为儿子以实玛利和家中所有的男子，不论是在家中出生的，还是买回来的，都行了割礼。

受不受割礼都算不得什么，最要紧的是遵行上帝的诫命。

都归了亚伯拉罕。这是在城门口的赫人面前买下的。

你们这些“所多玛”的首领啊，要聆听耶和华的话！你们这些“蛾摩拉”的百姓啊，要侧耳听我们上帝的训诲！耶和华说：“你们献上许多祭物，对我有什么用呢？我厌烦公绵羊的燔祭和肥畜的脂肪，我不喜欢公牛、羊羔和公山羊的血。“你们来敬拜我的时候，谁要求你们带着这些来践踏我的院宇呢？不要再带毫无意义的祭物了。我憎恶你们烧的香，厌恶你们的朔日、安息日和大会。你们又作恶又举行庄严的聚会，令我无法容忍。我憎恶你们的朔日及其他节期，它们成了我的重担，令我厌倦。你们举手祷告，我必掩面不理。即使你们祷告再多，我也不会听，因为你们双手沾满鲜血。你们要洗净自己，停止作恶，不要让我再看见你们的恶行。
