雅各愛上了拉結，於是對拉班說：「我願意為你工作七年，請你把拉結許配給我。」

雅各為了拉結給拉班工作了七年。因為他深愛拉結，所以這七年在他眼中就像短短的幾天。

耶和華看見利亞失寵，就使利亞生育，但拉結卻不生育。

愛惜自己生命的，必會失掉生命；憎惡自己今世生命的，才能保住生命，直到永生。

掃羅對大衛說：「我要把大女兒米拉嫁給你，但你要英勇作戰，效忠於我，為耶和華爭戰。」掃羅心裡想：「我不要親自動手，我要藉非利士人的手殺他。」大衛說：「我算什麼？我的家族在以色列那麼卑微，我怎麼配做王的女婿呢？」到了婚禮的日子，掃羅卻把米拉嫁給了米何拉人亞得列。掃羅的次女米甲愛上了大衛，掃羅知道了非常高興。他心裡想：「我把這個女兒給大衛，讓他中圈套，好藉非利士人的手殺掉他。」於是，他對大衛說：「你現在還有一次機會做我的女婿。」他又吩咐臣僕，說：「你們私底下告訴大衛，說王很欣賞他，群臣都愛戴他，勸他做王的女婿。」掃羅的臣僕把這話告訴了大衛，大衛卻說：「做王的女婿豈是一件小事呢？我不過是個貧窮卑微的人。」臣僕把這番話回報掃羅，掃羅說：「你們去告訴大衛，就說王只需要一百個非利士人的包皮作聘禮，好向他的敵人報仇。」掃羅想讓大衛死在非利士人的手上。臣僕把這番話告訴了大衛，大衛欣然答應做王的女婿。期限到來之前，大衛和部下出去殺了二百個非利士人，把他們的包皮獻給掃羅，好做王的女婿。掃羅便把女兒米甲嫁給了大衛。

我們早就被當作外人了，他賣了我們，把我們的身價全部吞了。

「如果一個人有兩個妻子，一個受他寵愛，一個不受他寵愛，二人都給他生了兒子，但長子是不受寵愛的妻子生的，

「愛父母過於愛我的人不配作我的門徒；愛兒女過於愛我的人不配作我的門徒；

「若有人要跟從我，就要愛我勝過愛他的父母、妻子、兒女、弟兄、姊妹，甚至自己的生命，否則就不能作我的門徒。

「一個人不能服侍兩位主人，因為他不是恨這位、愛那位，就是重這位、輕那位。你們不能又事奉上帝，又崇拜金錢。

我父親就對我們說，『你們應該知道，我妻子給我生了兩個兒子。

雅各曾逃往亞蘭，以色列在那裡為娶妻而服侍人，為得到妻子而替人牧羊。

拉結生約瑟以後，雅各對拉班說：「請讓我走吧！我想回故鄉，請你讓我和妻兒一同回去吧！她們都是我替你工作得來的，你知道我怎樣努力為你工作。」

我們對我主說，『我們有年邁的老父，他在晚年得了一個兒子，這孩子的哥哥已經死了，他母親只剩下他這一個兒子，他父親很疼愛他。』
