其時所多馬蛾摩拉未為耶和華所滅。自約但平原至於瑣耳、土皆潤澤、猶耶和華園、可與埃及相頡頑、

迦南之境、從西頓、近其臘、至迦薩、沿及所多馬、蛾摩拉、押馬、西編、拉沙。

硫磺及鹽、焚燬徧地、不得耕耘、無物產、無草萊、如所多馬、蛾摩拉、押馬、西編、為耶和華所怒、而使之傾覆者、

自希實本至以利亞利、大聲號泣、遍聞於雅哈斯、自瑣耳至何囉念其聲遙聞、與三歲之牛、長鳴相若、寧林水濱、亦已荒蕪。

一由伯和倫、一由西編谷之界、曠野相向之所。

以法蓮乎、我安忍舍爾、以色列乎、我焉肯棄爾、豈能視爾若押馬、敗爾若西編、我回厥志、慈愛之念、頓發於中、

我心為摩押哀、避難之民、聲聞瑣耳、與三歲之牛長鳴相若、陟路歙岡則哭、至何囉念、見其被毀、則為之哀、

附近有小邑、易以逃匿、是小邑容我逃匿、以全我命。曰許汝所求、爾所言之邑、我不翦滅。爾其速匿於彼、爾尚未至、吾不能有所作為。因邑甚小、故名瑣耳。○日出時、羅得入瑣耳。耶和華自天雨火硫於所多馬蛾摩拉、由是邑垣、平壤、民生、植物、無不盡滅。羅得妻回顧、變為鹽柱。亞伯拉罕夙興、至昔覲耶和華之處、望所多馬蛾摩拉、與平原一境、則見烟焰騰上、如出洪爐。當上帝翦滅平原、傾覆羅得所居之邑時、眷念亞伯拉罕、拯羅得出於災、羅得懼居瑣耳、故偕二女離其邑、處於山、同居巖穴。

爰及南方、耶利哥谷之平原、即棗城、出至瑣耳、俱示摩西俾其觀瞻。

民曰、如萬有之主耶和華、不俾我眾猶有孑遺、則必若所多馬、蛾摩拉矣。曰、爾曹與所多馬之君長、蛾摩拉之民人無異、宜聽上帝耶和華之命。
