於是他們把自己手中所有的外邦神像和自己耳朵上的環子都交給雅各；雅各把它們埋藏在示劍附近的橡樹底下。

因著信，他做為外人客居在應許之地，住在帳幕裡，與同一個應許的共同繼承人以撒、雅各一樣，

於是牧養亞伯蘭牲畜的和牧養羅得牲畜的就起了紛爭。當時迦南人和比利洗人住在那地。

亞瓦底人、洗瑪利人、哈馬人。後來迦南的各家族就分散了。迦南的邊界從西頓延伸到基拉耳，直到加沙；又延伸到所多瑪、格摩拉、押瑪、洗扁，直到拉沙。

這樣就來到了撒馬利亞的一個城，叫敘加。這城靠近雅各給他兒子約瑟的那塊地，

雅各從巴旦-亞蘭回來的時候，平安地來到迦南地的示劍城，在城的對面支搭帳篷。

迦南生了長子西頓，又生了赫提，

就在那一天，耶和華與亞伯蘭立約，說：「我已經把這地賜給你的後裔，從埃及河直到幼發拉底大河，就是基尼人、基尼洗人、甲摩尼人、赫提人、比利洗人、利乏音人、亞摩利人、迦南人、革迦撒人、耶布斯人之地。」

那地的族長希未人哈抹的兒子示劍看見她，就抓住她，與她同睡，玷辱了她。

遺體被帶回示劍，安放到亞伯拉罕在示劍用一筆銀子從哈莫爾的子孫買來的墳墓裡。
