The Lord appeared to Abram and said,“ To your offspring I will give this land.” So he built an altar there to the Lord, who had appeared to him.

The Lord appeared to Abram at Shechem. He said,“ I will give this land to your family who comes after you.” So Abram built an altar there to honor the Lord, who had appeared to him.

Then the Lord appeared to Abram and said,“ To your offspring I will give this land.” So he built there an altar to the Lord, who had appeared to him.

Then the Lord appeared to Abram and said,“ I will give this land to your descendants.” And Abram built an altar there and dedicated it to the Lord, who had appeared to him.

亞伯蘭九十九歲時，耶和華向亞伯蘭顯現，對他說：「我是全能的神，你當行在我面前，作純全人。

就是他與亞伯拉罕所立的約，向以撒所起的誓；又把這約給雅各立為律例，給以色列立為永遠的約；他說：「我要把迦南地賜給你，作為你們繼業的份。」那時他們人數稀少，實在很少，在那地是寄居的；

後來耶和華在幔利的橡樹那裡向亞伯拉罕顯現。那時是白天最熱的時候，亞伯拉罕正坐在帳篷的入口。

神的各樣應許，原是對亞伯拉罕和他的一個後裔說的。神並沒有說「後裔們」，像是指著許多人；而是說「你的一個後裔」，像是指著一個人，這一位就是基督。

你所看見的一切地，我都必賜給你和你的後裔，直到永遠。

也是他原先造祭壇的地方。亞伯蘭就在那裡呼求耶和華的名。

雅各就給那地方起名為毗努伊勒，因為他說：「我面對面看見了神，但我的性命得以保住。」

他又從那裡遷移到伯特利東邊的山地，並支搭帳篷；帳篷的西邊是伯特利，東邊是艾。他在那裡也為耶和華築了一座祭壇，呼求耶和華的名。

以撒就在那裡築了一座祭壇，呼求耶和華的名，並且在那裡支搭帳篷。以撒的僕人們也在那裡挖了一口井。

亞伯蘭遷移帳篷，來到希伯崙，在幔利的橡樹那裡居住，並在那裡為耶和華築了一座祭壇。

這些人都懷著信仰死去，沒有得到那些所應許的，卻遠遠地看見並且歡迎它們，又承認自己在地上是異鄉人，是寄居的。

看哪，耶和華站在梯子上方，說：「我是耶和華，你父親亞伯拉罕的神、以撒的神。我必把你現在躺臥之地，賜給你和你的後裔。

不過弟兄們，你們就像以撒一樣，是應許的兒女。

亞伯蘭臉伏於地；神又對他說：

挪亞為耶和華築了一座祭壇，並拿各樣潔淨的牲畜和各樣潔淨的飛鳥，在祭壇上獻為燔祭。

他們來到神所指示他的地方，亞伯拉罕在那裡築了一座祭壇，擺好木柴，然後捆綁了他的兒子以撒，把他放在祭壇的木柴上。

你要寄居在這地，我必與你同在，並祝福你，因為我必把所有這些地都賜給你和你的後裔；我必確立我向你父親亞伯拉罕所起的誓。

這就是說，肉身的兒女並不是神的兒女，只有應許的兒女才算是後裔。

在那裡雅各立了一座祭壇，稱它為伊利-伊羅伊-以色列。

就在那一天，耶和華與亞伯蘭立約，說：「我已經把這地賜給你的後裔，從埃及河直到幼發拉底大河，
