亞達薛西王七年、以色列人之中、祭司、利未人、歌唱的、守門的、當殿役的——之中、有的上了耶路撒冷。

這樣、以色列人都登記了家譜；看哪，都寫在《以色列諸王記》上呢；猶大人因為不忠實，就流亡到巴比倫。

那些有力氣英勇的人父系的族長總數共有二千六百人。

於是猶大和便雅憫父系的族長、祭司和利未人、凡心被上帝激動的、都起來，要上去重建在耶路撒冷之永恆主的殿。

這三家的人在他們的族譜中尋查自己的世系，卻尋不着，故此他們被算為不潔而不得作祭司；

耶利雅的弟兄有二千七百人都是有魄力的人，做父系族長的；大衛王派他們管理如便人、迦得人、和瑪拿西半族派的人，照料一切關於上帝的事和王的事務。

有些父系的族長為了這工程而捐獻。省長捐獻在庫中的有金子一千達利克，碗五十個，祭司禮褂五百三十件。又有父系的族長捐獻在工程庫裏：金子二萬達利克，銀子二千二百彌拿。

我下了諭旨：在我國內的以色列人民中、祭司和利未人、凡自願要同你上耶路撒冷的、他們儘可以去。

以上這些人是利未人父系的族長，按世系作首領的：這些人都住在耶路撒冷。

這些人也拈鬮，是跟他們的族弟兄亞倫的子孫並立而拈的，在大衛王面前、在撒督、亞希米勒、父系族長們、連祭司和利未人們面前拈的：眾父系的族長們跟兄弟們並立而拈，沒有分別。

以及這些城四圍所有的村莊，直到巴力。這是他們的住的地方；他們都為自己登記家譜。
