And wherever they went among the nations they profaned my holy name, for it was said of them,‘ These are the Lord’s people, and yet they had to leave his land.’

They treated my name as if it were not holy. They did it everywhere they went among the nations. People said about them,‘ They are the Lord’ s people. But they were forced to leave his land.’

But when they came to the nations, wherever they came, they profaned my holy name, in that people said of them,‘ These are the people of the Lord, and yet they had to go out of his land.’

But when they were scattered among the nations, they brought shame on my holy name. For the nations said,‘ These are the people of the Lord, but he couldn’t keep them safe in his own land!’

When they came to the nations where they went, they profaned my holy name, because it was said about them,‘ These are the people of the LORD, yet they had to leave his land in exile.’

天主名緣爾曹受謗讟於異邦人中、如經所載矣、○

主曰、今我民無故被擄、轄之者、喜樂陶陶、我名終日恆被褻瀆、我在此徒處何為、

斯民所言、爾不知乎、彼曰、昔主所選之二族、今已棄之、彼如是藐視我民、目中視之不復為邦國、

摩西在其天主耶和華前、懇求曰、斯民乃主之民、主昔以大能大力、導之出伊及、今何怒之甚烈乎、何為使伊及人云、耶和華導之出伊及、特欲加害於彼、殺之山中、滅之於地、求主轉怒回瞋、不降所言之禍於主之民、求主憶念主之僕亞伯拉罕以撒以色列、昔主指己而與之誓云、我必使爾後裔如天星之多、所許之全地、必賜爾後裔以為永業、

迦南人與此地一切居民聞之、必環而攻我、滅我名於天下、然主名為大、何以使人尊崇、原文作主為主之大名將如何而行

在其中必遺數人、得免鋒刃、饑饉、疫癘、使彼所至之列國、自述其諸可憎之事、彼則知我乃主、○

列國之諸神中、有誰救其國脫於我手、獨主能救耶路撒冷脫於我手乎、

勿聽希西家使爾恃主之言、彼曰、主必救我、此城不至陷於亞述王手、

若主盡滅斯民、如戮一人、則聞主名之列國人、必曰、緣耶和華無力導斯民入所誓賜之地、故戮之於野、

今爾曹再聽角、笛、琵琶、琴瑟、簫、笙、及他類樂器之音、若俯伏崇拜我所作之像猶可、若不崇拜、即時投於炎烈之火窰中、視有何神、能救爾曹脫於我手、

當如是告猶大王希西家曰、爾勿為爾恃之神所惑、自言耶路撒冷必不至陷於亞述王手、亞述列王如何待列國、如何翦滅列國、爾亦必聞之、獨爾能得免乎、我祖所毀滅之列國、歌散、哈蘭、利薛、及居提拉撒之伊甸族、彼諸國之神、何嘗救其國耶、
