我要用瘟疫擊殺他們，趕滅他們；我要使你成為大國、比他們強盛。』

『你要從這會眾中起來，我好在眨眼之間消滅他們。』二人就臉伏於地。摩西對亞倫說：『拿那香爐，把祭壇上取的火盛在那裏頭，又放上香，趕快走到會眾那裏，為他們行除罪禮，因為有神的震怒從永恆主面前發出，疫病已經發作了。』亞倫照摩西所說的拿來，跑到大眾中，哎呀，疫病已經在民間發作了；他就加上香，為人民行除罪禮。他站在死人與活人之間，疫症就被制住了。

我因永恆主向你們大發烈怒、要消滅你們、就很懼怕；但那一次永恆主也聽了我。

並且要發怒，用刀殺你們，使你們的妻子成為寡婦，你們的兒女成為孤兒。

所以你們要彼此認罪，互相代禱，使你們得醫治，義人竭力的祈求是大有功效的。

摩西便求永恆主他的上帝的情面，說：『永恆主啊，你為甚麼向你的人民發怒呢？這人民是你用大能用大力的手從埃及地領出來的呀！

求你照你堅愛之宏大、照你從埃及到如今常饒赦這人民的樣子、赦免這人民的罪愆。』永恆主說：『照你的話、我赦免他們了；

那人說：『天快亮了，讓我走吧。』雅各說：『你不給我祝福，我就不讓你走。』那人對他說：『你名叫甚麼？』他說：『雅各。』那人說：『你的名不要再叫雅各，要叫以色列，因為你跟神跟人較力，都得了勝。』

永恆主對我說：『你不要為這人民祈求福利。

亞伯拉罕說：『求主不要發怒，容我再說一句：就只這一次：萬一在那裏只見有十個呢？』他說：『因這十個的緣故，我也不毁滅。』永恆主與亞伯拉罕說完了話就走了；亞伯拉罕也回自己地方去了。

摩西走近營前，一看見牛犢，以及人在舞蹈着，他的怒氣便發作，就把兩塊版從手中扔去，給摔碎在山下了。

摩西、亞倫就臉伏於地說：『上帝啊，萬人之靈的上帝啊，一個人犯罪、你就要惱怒全會眾麼？』

永恆主對我說：『就使有摩西和撒母耳站在我面前來代求，我的心也不向着這人民。從我面前給打發走，叫他們出去！
